Reported stolen 9 June 1972 and recovered 1976 and returned to 3rd owner in Italy (from whom it was stolen). Later almost 40 years with same owner in CA. Marcel Massini
14239 is on BaT now (no affiliation). It's a bit of a project: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1971-ferrari-365-gtb-4-daytona-coupe-7/
I looked 14239 over very carefully during my search. If someone is interested in my opinions, they can PM me (I don't like to publicly comment on cars that are for sale).
Giallo 14589 is added to the auction block on August 14th in Monterey: https://rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/mo21/monterey/lots/r0020-1971-ferrari-365-gtb4-daytona-berlinetta-by-scaglietti/1103991 , This car is a 16,324 original mile car that is completely restored. It is virtually a 1 owner California car with original documentation from new. original books and tools. Purchase order from Porsche of Dublin, Ohio. to it's original owner in the Hollywood Hills. Gary Bobilief did the exhaust, Gran Touring and Duggan Enterprises did the mechanicals and suspension. HVL supplied the materials for the interior. It was a complete rotisserie restoration with paint from Juniors house of color. De La Torre did the chrome The car was accident and rust free example. It was serviced by Bruno at Modena Motors on La Brea in the 1970's and 1980's. Over $235,000 of total receipts and $115,000 of recent service. New tires , glass etc. All Lenses are period correct with dated stamps from Maranello Concessionaires. Period Correct Becker Mexico radio. Etc.
16k miles and why "completely restored"? Do you have any affiliation to 14589? Gary Bobileff would correctly counter there's no such thing as a "rust free" Daytona.
Yes it is my car, I have full photo documentation of the bare metal re-spray. No rust It was kept in a garage near Laurel Canyon and Mulholland for 33 years. So it was not exposed to the elements. The reason for the restoration is a color change from Bianco Polo to Giallo Fly and then one thing led to another. The mechanics went way overboard on the car. Everything was brought to the next level. Once you do the interior, you have to do the carpets, dash, headliner. etc. The motor the suspension, chrome, glass, fuel tanks, wiring, light stalks and turn signals, wheels , tires , brakes, new rubber , seals , everything. It was never ending.
How many owners does/did 14589 really have? 1) Midvo Leasing in Dublin/OH. 2) Donald F. Marsh, Columbus/OH. 3) Richard Wolf, Columbus/OH, then LA/CA (33 years) . 4) You (16 years). ?? Marcel Massini
Sidebar: Midvo was started in the 1950's by Robert (Bob) Fergus and Don Marsh as the original distributor for Volkswagen in the Midwest ('Midvo'). They later (also) became the Ferrari dealer of record in the Columbus, Oh area.
I have the original invoice from Dublin Porsche to Mr Wolfe for $20,000 on 3/14/1972 with 124 miles. Not sure what is Midvo leasing is maybe the financing company. I purchased the car from Mr. Wolfe through a broker and drove it 75 miles from my house in Beverly Hills in 12/2005 to my friends shop Jem Motors in Hollywood, who used to work fo Brunos (Modena) on 533 N. La Brea, then to Simpson Gasoline alley for the start a a 16 year restoration. I have had a dealers license for 30 years so it was always in my dealer inventory for the last 16 years. The originals are with RM , these are just copies I made. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Porsche Audi North, Midvo Volkswagen, Midvo Leasing, (and established later) Midvo Ferrari were all entities/sister companies owned by Bob Fergus and Don Marsh.
