So I'm due for another major. There seems to be range of opinion on what parts are needed for a major service. I found three kits online. Anyone have experience with these parts? Any recommendations? Thanks

I've had good luck with Superformance out of the UK. Prices are good and in most cases the parts are on my doorstep in a week.

Doesn't hurt to give GT car parts a ring or fax as well.
Bear in mind that there's no 'kit' of uniform parts, hence the variation.

I can't really say if one place is better then another. Comes down to customer service I suppose.

Hello Esteban, I have had good luck with Ricambi, AW Italian as well as GT car parts in Phoenix and T Rutlands. I often use multiple suppliers when doing service on my cars. The dollar is climbing so great time to purchase some parts. I bought a complete engine gasket kit for my 308 that included head gaskets from GT car parts for around $800 usd.

I have used all those mentioned and a few more.

Not an issue with ANY OF THEM.

What I do is the moment I have gone and replaced something, I start observing sales pages of our vendors. When a vacant space on my shelf* needs filling and I find 'IT' On-Sale, I BUY 'IT,'

Belts, bearings and oils I consider 'Perishable,' so I buy them LAST, Right Before I use them. Pretty much everything else can sit on the shelf in my 'Junk Room,' for a year or two or three, Before it gets mounted.

    Is this goofy o_O ?

    Maybe. Probably.

But it seems to work for me AND SAVES a few $Bucks. But in the end, There is NO Pot of Gold of Savings, remaining in my pocket. Enough for a milkshake or two, though. ;)

    * - I'm one of those guys who just hasta have EVERY REPLACEMENT Part Imaginable, Sitting ON-THE-SHELF. I've spent a wee bit of money collecting various parts, mostly 'Durable-Consumables,' over many years.

When there is a choice, Ricambi is my choice even if it is more expensive. The service is really top notch. The quality of products is Ferrari.

I do not even consider off shore suppliers. I have bought from all the US suppliers. Chances are, apples to apples prices are very similar. One will charge more for gaskets, less for belts etc. Shop service and parts quality. Look at the source and brands of the parts.

I’ve always had very good experiences with AW Italian. Stacey, their in-house Ferrari expert, knows her stuff and their prices are very competitive.

    Competitive to who?

I've bought most of my parts from Superformance in the UK. Even with shipping and the exchange rate, they are still better than Ricambi.

As an aside, a Baldwin B253 oil filter is less than half the price of the part # you're quoting above.

    Here’s one example:

    328 ignition wires:
    $450 at AW
$457 at Superformance (plus shipping from the U.K.)
    $570 at Ricambi

AW also had the best price on a full set of 328 motor mounts when I bought them a few months ago.

One thing to keep in mind and RifleDriver said it WITHOUT saying it IMO.

A seal is NOT ALWAYS a 'SEAL.'

I BUY THE BEST MADE Parts I know of and I CAN FIND.

For example TODAY, would I buy an SKF Idler Bearing although the world HQs is in my old 'Home' City of Schweinfurt, Germany, a hundred miles away today, (used to know the CEO as we were in the same Sports Club) and I still can buy them for next to nothing?

NOPE. I don't care if Ferrari endorses and sells um. Just NOPE.

Conversely, will I buy ISORAN BELTS? NOPE. Will I buy ISORAN Belts ONLY WITH Ferrari printed Horseys on them. YEP.

    Gaskets are NOT 'Gaskets' either.

H2O Pumps? Do NOT EVEN 'GO THERE.' JUST DON'T.

    BOTTOM LINE.

    SHOP AROUND. For QUALITY.

PRICE ALONE is a Very, VERY POOR (DID I Mention 'EXTREMELY POOR'?) METRIC to use when servicing your car.

FWIW, when I joined, PRICE was my SOLE CRITERIA. I DIDN'T LISTEN AT FIRST ... and I LEARNED .... and Often but not always, PAID AGAIN.

AND SOMETIMES, THE BEST QUALITY Part is NOT the Most Expensive.

    My 2-Cents €.

Very true. I see this a lot for my Porsche. Porsche OE parts vs. cheaper URO parts. Hands down - URO is crap.

So - the game is buy the cheapest quality part - not just the cheapest part.

    Very true..
I'd have to ask Nick again but there's a supplier out of Italy that carries what I consider the best of the paper gaskets, not cheap at all though.

Second runner up and work great would be GT car parts, they went to the trouble of making stamping dies long ago for the classics. In a pinch GT gaskets have been known to be reused... Dyno time, BTDT... Not that I'd recommend that for service intervals, but roadside or emergency.. They can be reused.. Provided they are not hulked off and shredded.

I've had zero trouble with any of the seals from GT.. 16+ yrs and lots of engine builds.

Agree with the most posts here. Always buy belts from Ferrari. Just call the service guy directly at our main distributor here in Sweden. He knows why I call him, most of the time anyway.

Use Superformance often but now since Brexit, we have customs duties to think about ... too sad.

Don't forget that suppliers change their suppliers, especially gaskets, seals etc, and not necessarily with the same quality.....
For example Superformance gaskets used to be rubbish but are presently much better quality. The reverse can be said for their lip seals!

I agree with much that has been said but in reality, how would anybody know about the quality of a product until they buy it/use it? As mentioned, the suppliers have suppliers so it is possible that the company you bought an excellent bearing from last year has a lesser quality bearing this year.

TO me the only reasonable way to approach it is to buy from a supplier you trust and leave it at that. Heck, you can't trust someone else saying that X bearings are the best because they MAY have been the best last year but now they are made by a cheap supplier and they suck. You have to trust somebody or you can't buy anything!

Admittedly, the trust part requires an ASSumption (!) - that a quality supplier ensures that the products they carry are suitable for the application even when their suppliers change. When I need a Ferrari part, I buy it from one particular supplier. I don't shop around, I just look up the diagram/part number(s) and order. (That used to be easier but that's a different issue. Oh well!) :( I'm confident the parts will be of suitable quality and if there is an issue, it will be resolved. Obviously, based on posts here, there are several suppliers that are highly thought of. So I'd say, just pick one of them based on your geographic location and use them!
