I would go. The venue and event are legendary. When I had the pleasure of visiting, I could feel the ghosts of races and racers past...just awesome.

capped at 40% capacity, my understanding is long time ticket holders have been given preferential treatment; might be a hard ticket to come by.

but worth doing once. personally, if your first time, I'd wait until it's a full house, just for the authentic experience.

or get hammered in the snake pit :p

My only 500 was in 1994. Hitched a ride in a Penske Lear from the Whittingtons’ FBO . Watched The Captain’s Mercedes engined surprise crush the field. Amazing driver group. Sat next to Parnelli at Mario’s retirement dinner. No point in diluting that experience. I’m very fortunate.

OK, word "on the ground" is not good.....Indiana is wide open, except for Marion County.

He also opined that the social events, like the Foyt's Wine Tasting, will be in the cross hairs of the 40% enforcement effort.
I may ride out and see what the odds are of coming up with Pit Credentials!

Seems the more likely at this point..

Oh I have been several times, several ways.
Going with Uncle Charlie was best (charter plane)...
Then again, during my married days....the race finished on Tuesday or something....wife went home and left me with a cute Yellow Hat girl..

    Thanks everyone..

Ticket scalpers are active along Georgetown Road. Even if you decide to go at the last minute you should be able to score some seats, just bring cash. There will be a huge oversupply of hotel/motel rooms as well.

Who is going to be in Indy for the race?

I have 1 silver badge credential I have up for sale. I am letting it go at a big discount vs what I paid for it. I would like it to go to someone who will actually get good use out of it. If anyone is interested in purchasing it PM me.

With Formula 1 off this week, I wonder if any of the F1 drivers will fly over and attend.

This would be more likely if Canada was still on schedule. Otherwise not likely.

My Bottas comment was tongue-in-cheek. A good friend used to attend the Milwaukee Mile(Indycar) when it was run the week after Indy and the week before the F1 race in Montreal. He said that F1 drivers appeared frequently at the event. Once while fiddling with his camera he literally bumped into Michele Alboreto.

With Indy still on Hard Lock Down, I don't think we will see any F1 types "leaving the bubble" just to come looky loo....

Correct, EU USA travel is still totally forbidden in both directions unless you are amongst other things a top athlete heading to an event to compete, not watch. Lots of paperwork and nose swab PCR tests.
Max Chilton missed the Indy GP recently because of his trip MO being mishandled.

The 1994 Penske-Mercedes OHV pushrod “stock block” was quite the steamroller. I attended in 1996 when the team/driver we sponsored (Della Penna/Richie Hearn) finished 3rd OA.

Chilton’s situation has since been straightened out. He’ll be racing in the 500 tomorrow.

I know but the fact he missed as race shows you really need your special travel permit paperwork in order and PCR test done within 72 hours of landing. No exceptions.
