Hello! Making my first post to turn on PM's!

 

I'm new here too and want to send a PM. How many posts do I need before that feature is allowed for me? It's kind of ridiculous it isn't available immediately.

 

I delete anywhere from 10 to 30 spam posts daily from the moderation que.

If someone could register and immediately start sending out PMs, it would be chaos.

Now that you have your first post approved, you can send PMs.

I would also caution you that it's usually not a good idea to call Forum protocol and anti-spam measures 'ridiculous' in your first post.

Doesn't make for a good first impression.

I must really have the flu....I sat down this morning, and could NOT recall my work LogIn, I have used here for the last TWO years!

How embarrassing...had to call Home Office IT, and get it reset (and tied to reality, it was random numbers, before).
Good grief.....I guess those brain cells just died, overnight.

 

It's actually tied to more than "a post", isn't it, mseals?

Verification of a legit email, stuff like that.
...AND of course, your check has to clear the bank!

 

I just read this whole thread only to realize I have not posted enough times...let's hope this is getting me closer! LOL.

Been lurking for a while but I've just purchased a 1992 348 TS that was stored for a number of years. Bought it as a project to work on.

Posting to unlock PM's as it's currently having its engine out service and I have plently of questions in regards to its restoration.

 

Hoping to unlock the pm feature. Considering buying my first Ferrari, a car an FC member used to own years ago. Hoping to get additional details, etc.

I have the same issue and had to google to find this thread. I guess I'll keep posting around so I can PM someone about buying a car LOL. Thanks for the info guys

 

New users, the objective of the initial post requirement is not to make you post "Posting to get PM access" posts. It's to see how you engage and find out more about who you are and why you joined the forum. If you don't give us something to understand those fundamentals, then we may defer post approvals until there's enough of substance for us to reach a positive conclusion or we may leave you in that state for a very long time. So simply engage, and don't look for shortcuts so that you can move on to PMs while ignoring the forum.

 

I don't mean to ignore the forum or skip around the rules or anything. It was just non-intuitive for me that there was a process. (Yes I'm sure I missed reading it somewhere). Anyway, I'm looking forward to being apart of the community here.

 

A substantial fraction of new users here are actually "Nigerian scammers". They only post just enough to be allowed to send PMs to users to make bogus offers for sale or purchase in private, beyond public scrutiny. While we can't promise a forum populated only by real and sincere users, we do what we can to improve the odds. So stop worrying about when you're going to get PM access and just engage. Full privileges will soon follow.

 

Hi Guys, I am having trouble PMing as well. I don't see any PM options when clicking on a user.

 

Finally found this thread and figured out the PM issue too. Thanks!
