Hi guys and gals, quick question, while I wasn't really looking to sell my '08 ACR, someone offered me a strong offer, (even though I would prefer a trade, (NY taxes)), so the question is what compares to the ACR in case I take the offer? Here is some criteria:

    -Exotic
    -Not depreciating-ish
-Not a 360, had one already
-Same current value, (even though I'm not disclosing the $$, you guys know the ballpark, lol)
    -Reliable
    -Convertible preferred

Thanks in advance, I appreciate your knowledge.....torn on this one......any advice would be great, and yes, keeping the ACR is very much a viable option.
    :)

I would say an early (06 and 07 I think) 997TT which I think still had the much lauded Mezger engine. Is relatively exotic, relatively reliable, and comes as a vert.

Corvette C7 Z06 is not as exotic but also basically reliable, and comes as a vert.

Neither is as track focused as an ACR though.

There are likely a few Astons in that price range but I dont know about their reliability.

    John has good thoughts above.

The vert requirement narrows the window a bunch. Additionally, the absolute grip of the G4 ACR is not matched by many vehicles out there.

I don't think most would consider it an exotic. Also probably more depreciation to be had there. Repairs can be costly also (I had an S63 previously). Otherwise it could be an option.

Might be the exact opposite of an ACR Viper, but a cool car for sure.

    Too far backwards performance wise?

If you want a convertible, did you consider the Gen V Viper Medusa?

Nothing compares to the Viper. Its its own unique thing.

Having said that BMW Z8 is in my top 5 favorite cars of all time , so Ill always support tht choice.

Lamborghini Gallardo fits all the categories.....and are reliable for an Italian-ish exotic

Prior gen Aston vantage, best asthetic design of the 2ks, the v12 one is more money but sure to appreciate, last front engined v12 manual car made.
Around 100K hard to beat some sort of vette.
There are porche turbos anywhere from 60-120k depending on year etc, but they're a bit laggy I prefer the NA motors.

Euro cars are just very different to drive.

Out the box choice is a new Challenegr Hellcat, like waterfront properties once they're gone thats it.

The answer is absolutely nothing. Having had a very large collection of them I am bias.

    However...

Out of all of the cars I have driven... I'll give you two suggestions. One is a little bit over budget. The other one is well over the budget.

2008 Mercedes CLK 63 black series. But it's not a convertible.

Mercedes SLS ROADSTER. Hands down the closest thing to a viper. Very raw and the car is very similar to a viper. Long hood. Naturally aspirated. Agressive.

Do not bother with like a 427 vette convertible. You won't like it. It's nice but it's just not as good.

Even a z06 convertible isn't as good. Great car. Just not special feeling.

I believe OP was looking at an ACR 08 comparable price point. The SLS is a great car but way over the price range. 08 CLK black series is expensive to maintain these days. Having had an 09 ACR with about every performance mod you are right nothing compares. Not even a salvage FGT you can find for less than 220 thousand U.S.

Quick update, I had/have a couple more strong offers since the first one and since I started to wet my beak, lol. Someone offered a R8 v-10 Spyder, don't think I would go for that but narrowing it down I might go for a 2nd gen Gallardo Spyder if I could find one in that range........

I'm very happy with the 575M (after modifications) and glad I bought it, but it's a much different car than the Viper.
