You got a screaming deal on the most underrated Ferrari ever made. Welcome, and good luck! Please post up a picture of the odometer when it rolls over 100,000 miles. :)

Congrats. You got a great deal. Enjoy the car. For that price you could part it out and make a profit.

Definetly will post when it turns 100,000. Next week I drop it off for the engine out service. Can't wait to get it back and drive it. I'm sure I'll be searching the forum for tips and ideas.
I'm probably repeating myself, but I'm as excited as I've ever been about a car.

I remember years ago my uncle playing a record album with recordings of different racing and sports cars going by. I was about 5 or 6 years old at the time - this would have been in the late 60's. After a while he would quiz me on the cars. If I remember right they were XKE's Cobras and Ferraris.

He saved all his Road & Tracks and Car & Drivers and we would spend hours looking over all the road tests and articles. I learned to appreciate sports cars from my Uncle who is now in a nursing home. He also taught me that Ferrari was the ultimate car and it stuck with me throughout my life. He told me stories about how Enzo Ferrari started his company from books and magazines he read. I remember his story about driving his Fiat down to Sebring and telling me about Chaparral winning that year

When I was around 12 or so I remember riding my bike about 10 miles to take a picture of a grey 308 I saw in a parking lot earlier in the day after a trip with my parents to the grocery store. Fortunately it was still there. I had never seen a Ferrari in person. It was a surreal experience for me. I've had several Corvettes in my life but never a Ferrari. So I'm on cloud 9. I'll also be taking the Ferrari to show my Uncle.

It looks to be like the Sparco R 600 but I don't think it has the adjust knob on the side. I'll have to check. Might be the R100. I do like the support and they're comfortable.

It's been 3 weeks in the shop now having the 30k mile service. Hope to have it back in a couple of weeks. Very excited about getting her back since I didn't drive it much after the purchase for fear of the timing belt breaking since it had been 7 years since the last major.

I'll post after I've had a chance to drive her after the service.

Wow very nice price, color, etc.
If I may be so bold, I'd take off the fender shield stickers and the sticker in the windshield. Everyone knows it's a ferrari ;) Looks like the carpet isn't original nor the seats. I'd personally swap those back in and sell the sparco's or keep the sparcos for track season.

    Congrats!!!!

Are they doing the belts with the engine in? Strange they didn't drop the engine yet. After 3 weeks. Or is it back in in the picture.

Nice car! I like the interior as is.

I looked closer at the pictures and the engine is probably back in. Way too clean for a high miles car. Easy to tell it's been well maintained and freshly cleaned. This look as clean or cleaner as any other lower miles car I've seen.

    Thanks for the replies.

Actually the engine has not been dropped yet. Should be this week. I asked the guy working on it if he cleaned it and he said he had just wiped it down. ??? I was impressed with how clean it looked. I'll probably leave interior as is for now, I'd like to try a few track days.

The previous owner had taken one of the mufflers off and eliminated the dual tips on the exhaust( which I like dual tips better). Any suggestions on where I can get nice looking dual tips? I might consider nice looking single tips. Also may eliminate the cats while they have the engine out.

Replaced the tips, or the exhaust as well? Most OE systems have 4 pipes.

I'm not sure. Here is a picture I took underneath when it was up on the lift when I replaced the tires and what it looks like from the back with the single tips. Image Unavailable, Please Login

Wow, that's really clever. They retained the upper OEM can and routed outlet pipes from there.

While doable, it would be my last option since the upper can is what causes the tail lights to melt. Well, mostly anyway. And tail light assemblies are very expensive if you can find them, about $1500 used per side.

But your heat is a lot less with one can...

    Here's one of mine.

Ouch that looks like it could be dangerous as well. Thanks for the advise, will keep an eye on the heat from that can. I wonder how replacing the cats with Test pipes will affect the engine with just the single can?

For street use, probably not much effect at all. Recall that the 348 Spider uses a single can, and it's what I put on the 90 ts I had. They come up on ebay every so often.

If that's the way you go, don't forget the mount cross bar as well.
