Black Wheels

Ok...

 

Think it depends on the car and color. Love the black wheels on our red 911, but wouldn't dig them on our ivory California...T

 

I can see this. I actually went with Gunmetal for mine. I like the darker look, but not losing the definition of the wheels.

Agreed. For the Cali, they are not as dark as that, but just dark enough to give definition, as you said...T

Yep, hate those things with the fire of 1,000 suns. And ironically, those ugly bastards came on both exotics I have bought. Re-painted one right away and can’t wait to fix the other one.

What color are your calipers? One of the things I like about the black tires on my 911 is that the calipers are red, so there's a pop of color there.

I actually think black wheels highlight a car’s design as it takes the focus away from the wheels.

Also, if you have a smaller diameter wheel, dark wheels can blend in with the tires and help make them look bigger than they are.

Some wheels are absolutely gorgeous (ex F40 wheels) and it’s nice to highlight them vs painting them black.

 

I believe it is very model and color specific. For example, I love how the black wheels came out on my 430, largely because of how they go with the Grigio body color. I can understand not liking them on a red car.

Midnight Purple III. Changes color very nicely depending on lighting. My favorite color out there probably, but looks terrible on most cars.

Black wheels are great depending on the car. I have not seen too many Ferraris that look great with black wheels other than, say, a yellow 458 or something like that. Lambos look great (think green/orange Huracan) or even 911s - silver, etc. I'm sure it will look dated in 10-20 years but at some point you got to live in the now.

 

Yeah, not a fan either.

Then again, I am quite happy with gold e88's on my 911's, so what do I know!
