Thanks for that update. That's kinda what I thought.

I don't want to probe on this any further as we could be drifting towards P&R. Just glad that it sounds like there will be spectators at the Monaco GP. Good for the race, good for the sport.

F1 announcement following UK government putting Turkey on its red list of countries: “We are aware of the announcement made by the UK government regarding travel restrictions for Turkey and are assessing the situation and will provide more details in the coming days.”

Turkey going onto UK Covid red list, with compulsory and expensive hotel quarantine, is bad news for the recently confirmed GP. The usual exemptions given to returning team personnel (not media) won't apply. It's a question of how long F1 can wait to see if it drops off list

With Canada gone and Turkey likely not happening F1 is now considering another two race spectacle at Zeltweg. Maybe even with spectators as Austria is doing relatively well amidst the pandemic.

All credit to Liberty; they are really pulling all the stops to obtain a full calendar.

In the opening sequence of Eurovision 2021 there is a cool overhead shot of a Ferrari 312B going down the s/f line at the new Zandvoort track.

Actually they showed some more footage, turns out it is a red and white GP2. Still nice to include the track in the show.

Let me get this straight: Canada was dropped because of Covid and replaced by Turkey. Turkey was dropped because of Covid and replaced by Spielberg. Now Spielberg might get dropped and...

I think very likely the Australian GP will also be cancelled too. Track construction has to start at the latest by mid September, so a decsion has to be made before then ( ie early September) GP organisers have said for the event to go ahead as scheduled, the 14 day quarantine requirements for travellers enterning Australia would have to be lifted.
With the Australian goverment stating borders will be closed until 2022 and the slow vaccine rollout, the chance of the event proceeding in Melbourne as scheduled is pretty slim , notwithstanding that recent CV outbreaks in Australia (Melbourne) have been linked to quarantine failures.

Well, if they moved Japan up, Montreal could return. Possibly. Maybe.

Either that or back to back weekends in Austin if Montreal cannot provide a GP. Would like to see the new facility at Montreal though.

Austria forced to scrap reverse layout race plans

Executives at the Red Bull Ring have been forced to shelve plans to run on a reverse layout for the Austrian Grand Prix at the beginning of July.

On most circuits, a reverse layout would be difficult to achieve.

When circuits are designed, kerbs, run-off areas, marshall posts, signs, guardrails and rescue exits are positioned for the traffic going one way only.

The only real question, given that you don't design track to go both ways, is why did they consider doing it for more than a few minutes ?

Domenicali on the calendar: "We have plan A, B, C and D." Recently Singapore canceled its race. In Japan, it all depends on the Olympics. "If the Olympics can happen, we have a chance," we hear from the F1 headquarters. Turkey, Malaysia & China are traded as replacements.

"In Australia the strict corona policy is an obstacle. Melbourne wants the Grand Prix to happen, but the authorities are stepping on brakes. There were even talks of a second race in "The Bend" near Adelaide."

Should the Brazil GP not happen due to the virus mutation, Austin, Indianapolis, Qatar or a second GP in Sakhir could step in.
