Plenty...for example Massa helped him a lot at Williams, even because he already knew him from Ferrari, and the Brat goes on to say felipe didn't help me one bit!..It was a lie, and it was stupid, just shows the kind of person he is...

Well, in all fairness that comment was preceded by Massa saying that Williams' 2008 trouble season was due to choosing money (Stroll) over talent (himself) and then further on proclaimed to be a humble Yoda teaching Lance everything he knew and more than anybody ever taught an F1 driver. Stroll and Massa scored about the same amount of points, with Stroll grabbing a podium (and Massa didn't). A bit of action-reaction, some sour grapes of getting the sack in favor of the rich I'd say... I'm sure Massa would have scored about the same amount of points in the 2008 Williams as Stroll & I'm sure Lance picked up quite a few things from Massa (he would be foolish not to).

    This

plus the fact that Massa at that point was way past his sell-by date, age wise and because of his accident

Massa was quick to say "a lot" when the question came up in a pre-race interview re how much Stroll had learned from him (the question was aimed at Stroll). Stroll sort of politely avoided the question, stating that Massa had helped the team a lot. I actually don't think Massa helped Stroll as much as Massa thinks he did and I think Stroll went into the season hoping that Massa could help him evolve as a driver but soon realized that was not going to happen.

edit; Also, we only have Massa's and Lance's words on this matter as none of us were in the garage with them.

Rake angle has the least to do with it. Mclaren actively switched to a lower rake for 2021 believing it has greater benefits and looking at their results, that has worked so far. Ferrari also employs a lower rake this year compared to last and their car has improved significantly.

Who would have imagined when this thread started that it would eventually be reporting Stroll's outperformances of his teammate Sebastian Vettel.

More than one slice of humble pie has been consumed :D

This was always going to be about how bad Vettel was going to do in 2021 and either confirm his lack of performance these last years or disprove it. So far he’s confirming it and validating Ferrari’s decision to cut him.

I has very little to do with Lance.

It is completely about Vettel and his significant decline. Nothing else.

Perez would still be beating Lance.

After Singapore 2017, Ferrari should have forced him to undergo therapy on his emotional weaknesses (I’m not kidding).

Funny how people change their posts: Last year it was all about how "Vettel will wipe the floor with Lance". Now it's so obvious to all that Vettel declined. And of course it has nothing to do with Lance improving because that is by definition not possible.

    Oh dear. :confused::cool:

Once again Lance nicely controlled four times world champion Vettel all race long. And he passed two times world champion Alonso twice.

I guess he did it for the numbers. :)

Yep. Some people like to take tidbits of noninformation and run with it as if it has some meaning. This year it is rake angles, and before it was long wheelbase cars being mightier than short wheelbase cars, despite there being .25 inch difference between the two.

    Lookit that rake angle, yo!

I was convinced that Vettel was going to crush Stroll this year. He is no more at Ferrari and Vettel continues to disappoint me which is a sort of achievement.
Lance has made great progress indeed and his season will be interesting to follow.

Thanks for being honest and objective.

Unfortunately with those two traits you no longer qualify to post in the F1 forum. :p

Lance may have 'improved'. Norris and Ricci had some opinion of that last year. Not Lance' rookie year either.

Vettel has degraded significantly. That is the story. Also as I stated above, Perez was never challenged by Lance overall. I have zero doubt Perez would be winning now.

    Its a Vettel story.

so sorry BaWu, it's a Lance story. Look at the title of the thread. 'Fess up; this thread has been laden with a turkey stuffing of anti-Stroll opinions. I was even beginning to believe them. And then the young man overcame the very real burden of having a billionaire father who was spending a good part of the family fortune to give his son the vehicle - pardon the pun - of a somewhat competitive, if not front-running, Formula 1 team. That is what makes it entirely a Lance story with a Seb sub-text.
