I'm putting my 2004 VW Phaeton for Sale. I am the third owner of this car and have 25 thousand dollars worth of receipts going all the way back to the day the car was delivered. This is a turnkey car and a Phaeton that you can jump in and drive without having to constantly look over your shoulder. It drives and looks like a 50k mile car. Here is the nitty gritty , please read the bottom of this description and make sure this is the car for you prior to contacting me. I am only selling to try to free up a little space. I will keep the car if I don't get the price I want.

    - 181k miles
    - exterior is a 9 out of 10, interior is a 9.8 out of ten (no wood cracks or leather tears)
    - Bentley continental 19 inch wheels with pirelli tires plenty of tread left
    - Good brakes
    - No lights on dash other than the classic tire pressure sensors
    - Upgraded Oil cooler pipe to billet (you'll never have the classic coolant leak and have to drop the motor to fix the 5 dollar part) this is an extremely expensive engine out repair
    - Good air suspension that will more than likely not go out. Car is 17 years old and it would have happened by now. Some Phaetons did not suffer from this.

Air suspension and oil cooler pipe are the two most expensive repairs you'll do on a Phaeton from what I have been told.

    - No cracks on the front bumper under the headlights (phaetons are notorious for this if the car is bumped). I had the front bumper pulled and repaired last fall with the headlight washer delete.

Phaeton is one of the finest luxury sedans every made (mostly handmade). It's the W140 of the 2000s. I have owned 5 of these now (they are a drug) and they make every bmw, lexus, or merc I have ever owned feel like a piece of crap. It is the same car as the Flying spur, 5x nicer than the A8. 99 percent of all phaetons on the market are deferred maintenance. This is not a cheap car to maintain and many of them are parted out once they get to the 100-130k mile range as people simply give up on them and the parts value for these cars is high. If you think you're going to buy a 5 or 8 thousand dollar Phaeton with no history and put a couple grand on it, drive away hunkey dorey you are mistaken and can easily throw close to or more than 5 figures into a maintenance deferred car. This car is SORTED and a very clean Phaeton. IT has outstanding pedigree and condition which is why I had to buy it when I saw it.

If you are not okay with a higher mileage car and think you're going to use this as a reason to get a big deduction off the price, this car is not for you. This is a car for somebody who wants to drive it a decent amount or daily drive it.

I will post a few more pics in the coming weeks.

Waited 5 years for the right one to pop up , Found one in Chicago with 36k original serviced miles on the clock . Flew out , drove it back to L.A . You already know how that opens up on the highway top end :).....Sad to say , had it for only 1 month before a teenager ran a red light and hit my wife head on . Had left front end damage to the VW, the other car was totaled . Very sad day for me , but thank god the wife was ok ... They really are something special .GLWS .!

Man that stinks! I'll bet your wife walked away unphased after the accident though. These cars are tanks and ludicrously safe. I'm not surprised that you ended up pulling one out of the midwest. I think most of them were sold in this region and they do have a great following here. It takes a very specific type of buyer to appreciate and want these cars when they were new. In the midwest there are a lot of people who do not want to let other people know it when they have money. This is the perfect car for people with that mentality and old money.

I worked for Volkswagen from 2006-2016 and must say these are phenomenal cars. I've been fortunate enough to spend a ton of time behind the wheel of both the 4.2 and 6.0 and must say it's one of the finest cars ever produced. Engineered way ahead of its time. Good luck with your sale, she sure is pretty.

I have one right now that I'm in the process of sorting out. I had a mint one back in 2012. I bought it with 120k on it, the car was pampered beyond belief. My only complaint is that they put the 5 speed in the car instead of the 6 that's in the 8 cylinder. Not sure why they did this as the bentleys all have the 6 speed in them. I bought the car and as I was making the 2 hour drive home, I was shocked when I saw the cluster showing the 5 speed LOL. The 8 cylinder is probably all around the better car but the 12 really is a little more special :)

    I also have a W12. You can't go wrong with a Phaeton.

Just drove the car from Indianapolis to Cincinatti and back last weekend to see the Reds play plus a concert. The couple I went with were fighting over who got to sit in the back (Larger and nicer than the S class). Looking forward to Driving it again this winter if it doesn't sell. It will get another 5 thousand miles on it by the spring.

Actually the real reference is the Bentley Flying Spur, as this is what the Phaeton is based on.

It is the 8 cylinder. I got the wheels for free with a deal I struck with a fellow phaeton enthusiast in town. He sold me is W12 a month before I bought this car. They had a ton of tread left on them so instead of selling right away I decided to swap them over and use them for a bit. I do have the stock wheels and they are very clean

The give away on All w12 cars is that they have quad pipe exhaust plus 6.0 and w12 badge on the back trunk. Very rare birds and only about 500 of them came to the states. Around 2500 of these v8 cars were imported.

Spring is here so the car is back on the market. Price bump to 9k. At the end of the 2021 season the car developed the transmission flare shift issue in when shifting from 4th to 5th gear. This is either $1500 to fix the valve body, or $4000 for the transmission rebuild/replacement. I spoke to the number one specialist in the country regarding this and that is the bad news (it's almost impossible to tell which fix will rectify the issue). The good news is that the car still drives normally otherwise and this will not leave you stranded on the side of the road. Driving it as is will not damage the tranny and the issue will remain the same. I've driven the car comfortably for the past 6000 miles with the issue.

Car now has 187k on it and has developed a few of the spider cracks on the front bumper again. I'm still driving it every winter and will continue to do so until it sells.

    9,000 or best offer.
