I currently have the original 20" wheels with MSS4s tires. I'm happy with them since the 458 became my DD. But I want to track the car at least 2-3 times a year, so I'm considering buying a new set of wheels and tires.

Here's what I found on eBay:
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/124496451567?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3D5562a8e1560b4e67978a9d991e26966d%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D15%26mehot%3Dnone%26sd%3D124496451567%26itm%3D124496451567%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2380057%26brand%3DFerrari&_trksid=p2380057.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3A890ab6e6-ad58-11eb-914a-5ad343e0c2bb%7Cparentrq%3A3abcf7641790acf0dd37d45ffff819d8%7Ciid%3A1

Then for tires, I'm thinking of the Cup2s.

Can you guys provide me with some feedback on both the OEM wheels and tires?

    Thx so much in advance.

I would consider new wheels and Cup2s for the track a waste of money until you have a track alignment you are happy with. My car still has the OEM setup, which I love on the street, but it is so bad on a track as to make Cup2s a waste of money. My MSS4s tires have 8k miles and two track days on them and have been a great combo. I'd stick with that until you've gotten to the point that you are ready to get a more track friendly alignment.

Thanks for your feedback. I'm tracking my GT3 with Cup2s and I feel it has way more grip than the 458 with SS4Ss. Of course I know the GT3 is specifically set up for the track and it's a totally different car, so I'm not comparing apples to apples here. I get that...

All I'd like to do is add more grip to the 458 for both track days and spirited driving over the weekends. Question is whether to buy a set of Cup2s and have my local shop swap the 4Ss for the Cup2s during the dry months. I've also added Novitec SS to the 458.

    Thx again.

More grip on the street!? You are a madman. :)

I used to swap Trofeo R's and PSS on an old car. I'm not sure it was worth the added cost, but it was nice to have spare OEM wheels, and further I could just drive the wheels to Discount Tire in my truck instead of driving my supercar there. Also, when a wheel got a nasty rock chip, I could just swap it to being a track wheel.

I've not gotten into tracking the 458 yet. I actually love the OEM alignment on the street even if it sucks on the track. Plus I'm not sure I'm mentally ready for the wear and tear the track does to cars. If someone could promise me that I wouldn't have my 458 at the shop for a month while someone tries to figure out where that weird vibration is coming from after I hit a turtle wrong, then I'd track it more.

Ha! I'm not super mad, but I do like that grip and confidence the Cup2s give me on the GT3! :)

Perhaps what I could do is this:

    1) buy the OEMs (link above)
    2) buy Cup2s
    3) put the Cup2s on the original wheels for the track
    4) put the current 4Ss on the OEM for the street

As far as tracking the 458, I've already tracked it twice since I bought it 7 months ago. Full day sessions. On top of that, I've driven about 6k miles (bought it with 10k). Many of these are spirited, often 7k-9k RPM type of miles. It's a 2013 458 Spider and in 7 months and all that driving, all I've done as far as mechanical stuff is an oil change. I'd go as far as to say that the track time has done it good.

The one thing I complain about is... the tires! The 4Ss make the car vibrate a bit after driving hard, with the feathers it gets. That's why I'm thinking of the Cup2s.

At the very least, I'd add some front camber if your car is setup anything like mine. The fronts overheat in two laps of COTA. But the street wear can't be beat.

There is no Cup 2 size that will work well for the 458 and not cause ABS/ESC issues.

The forged 458 wheels are not particularly light or strong either.

OZ makes a lightweight track focused wheel specifically for the 458 that comes in a 19" and a 20", which is the OZ Superforgiata.

For track use and spirited driving a staggered 19/20 set offers several options.

    MPSC2 in either
    255/35R19 and 315/30R20
    Or
    265/35R19 and 325/30R20

    R888R in
    245/35R19 and 315/30R20
    Or
    265/35R19 and 325/30R20

    Cup 2 Connect 240
    245/40R19 and 295/35R20

If I were to track a 458 or have a set up for proper spirited driving, one of the above is what I'd do.

Note that the stock 458 camber settings are far too mild to work well with the track day style setups. Getting the front end camber set to at least -1.5 degrees per side is pretty much a must. The conservative camber setting will tear the outside of the treads apart in short order, and actual contact patch in the turns will be limited due to the stiffer sidewall. This can also cause the tyre to "skip" in turns and induce added understeer.

What wheel sizes and offsets for the OZ will fit with 255/35R19 and 315/30R20?

The OZ wheels I've seen people use with that size, has had a front ET of 40mm and a rear of 52mm.
The wheels have a width of 9" and 11".

    It works well:)

Just got my 458 tires upgraded to MPS4S.

What are the recommended pressures front and rear? Mine seem way off...

Most people run 30 front 29 rear +/- 1 psi for personal preference. If you live somewhere hot and are on a track it is going to go up 5-7 psi from cold pressure in which case I will let some air out.
