Every time I get into my 458 to start it up, I get the annoying seatbelt chime when I turn the key that lasts for about 10 seconds and kind of ruins the fun experience of starting the 458. Only solution is to put my seatbelt on BEFORE I start it, but that’s rarely the case as I like to start the car and let it warm up for a minute or two.

How do I disable the annoying seatbelt chime that comes on anytime you unbuckle your seatbelt or turn the car on?

Surely there must be a fuse or something I could pull.

    Thanks guys

I don't have the wiring schematic for the 458 but my guess is it's just a small one or two wire harness. I just removed this same annoying feature on my Toyota pickup truck; it was just a two wire harness. I cut the harness and soldered the wires together - problem solved.

    I doubt it's a fuse.

Not sure if this would work for our cars (as I have never use it) but there are seatbelt inserts that you can put into the belt receivers to trick the system into thinking that the belt is latched. Because there is no belt attached to it, you can trick the system.

That's the one I was about to buy too. Hoping that will get rid of the annoying alert. If ok with you, I'll wait for you to report on it before purchasing it.

    Thx in advance.

I am pretty sure you can at least, go into the "Settings" and turn the volume down as low as it will go.
    That will help some.

Not that I know of. You can do that for the infotainment 'ding' volume, but not the belt.

The Porsche, for instance, has the same alert, but it's suuuuper easy on the ear, so you can live with the few seconds without the belt plugged in. The Ferrari... it's like they wanted to annoy you on purpose kind of loud!

So mine came after about a week. It works perfectly and it is amazing getting into the car and not being pounded by the beeping. Dramatically increases my enjoyment of the car. Would highly recommend it.

Guess what? I actually pulled the trigger since it’s only $20 or so. It arrived today and it works like a charm! ;)

You’re totally right. Such a difference getting in, turning the key and NOT suffering that annoying alert! Wow…

It will work in almost any car with a normal looking seatbelt. You just choose your car make/model when you order and they’ll give you the right adaptor.

So that’s what that annoying beep is every time you get in the car? Funny.

Just saw this older post and I'd like to thank @Petrolhead#32 for posting the link to the belt receptical extender. I too have been haunted by this awful noise busting up the orchestra from the tailpipes which we all love so much.. So rare to find a solution like this, which works perfectly and is practically free!

Thank you all for your continuous advice and info.. Every time I visit this forum I learn something I didn't know before!

I made sure I could turn off the seatbelt warning in my F350 before I bought it.

I would assume, as stated above, that it would be a 2 wire harness that needs to complete a circuit (twist them together).

I love that the F8 doesn’t even have a chime. It only chimes for a short period if you have it on and then remove it. If you never even put it on, it makes no sounds at all. Best feature ever cos I never wear mine.

In my other cars, I bought little carbon fiber pieces that you just plug in to the seat belt receptor and leave in there. Voila

the only problem with those pieces is you can't actually wear your seatbelt with them in!

I am litigating a case right now in which the insurance company is asserting my client is 49% responsible for his injuries suffered in a crash in which he disabled his seat belt warning chimes in this very exact manner
