Oh yes I got that...sorry I was responding to the post above about "West Coast Dealers" when your car was new!

As I explained over and over this weekend "The Boxer was never a USA car, and only when replaced by the Testarossa, did Ferrari have a V12 in the US market".....we were lucky enough to have "ross"'s 512BBI there.

This is a very early 5.0 liter car, as I learned when discovering the one in Newman's shop now, under resto..

What's your Engine block casting number??
    I bet it's got some zero's...:D :D

I have never seen the arch flares before and wondering how that was an option, is it a different part # for the rear clamshell? Hard to imagine a dealer doing fabrication and paint work on a new BB back in the day, curious how that processed worked! Beautiful BB, Blue Sera is a favorite.

Yes it is, however, the car has been repainted. In my opinion, the repaint is probably more metallic than the original.

While I had asked some BB experts I never understood when the Boxer grill changed from being full width w/ the driving lights behind the grill to the shorter grill w/ the lights flanking. My first BB [sn 21171] that I purchased in Ancona in 1985 had some BBi "upgrades". Rear valance with fogs was an example. But it had the full width grill when I took possession. I guess an owner would take the Boxer back to the factory [or dealer] for BBi upgrades. I believe every BBi had the shorter grill w/ lamps on either side. But when during the carbed BB production did this change happen?

Back in these days there wasn't much thought about originality. Upgrading to newer specs was simple when the cars were in Italy. Just take it to the dealer and Ferrari would sell the parts for install.

Hawkeye.....you probably know more than me about BBs.

It is interesting how many BBs in the U.S. have had this change. Now in quest for originality the change back to full grill with lights behind will not be cheap.

I never knew about the grill difference. As it turns out, I have a “twin” of this car. I believe mine is a 1979 but not sure. GLWS Image Unavailable, Please Login

    Grail car for me.

Please educate me on these two points

Height seems high on rear wheels ?

Are the headlights orange because of delivery in France or all for that year?

    Lovely car. Great colors.

I am not expert, but I believe you are referring to those big orange rectangles which are actually the directionals. Headlights are pop-up.

As far as I know, in France, and maybe some other countries, they actaully got clear directionals. Like this:

I think with all the care and attention you have given to the car, bat might be a good place for it. Certainly you will get a tremendous amount of exposure, and if you can handle some of the reckless comments from the peanut gallery, you might ride the wave of feeding frenzy that is a frequent event over there. In any case GLWS, awesome car!
