Ferrari Marketing is different nowadays. From my recollection, they have never lead the introduction of a car with partial info/pics and broken it up into 2 or 3 sections if you count the leaks. I'd say it's working very well to drum up interest and speculation! They've nailed it marketing wise!

Saw that too and the word chosen stuck out big time. Amplified in short could mean amps or amperage. I'm starting to feel the electrified!

    2 More Sleeps......

    It’s getting long isn’t it?

Alongside the « reveal » of the coupé, we’ll know the official name (812 Competizione?), alongside the targa version that should be presented too. That’s already crazy when you think about it: 2 VS at the same time!

HIGHLY doubt any BS amps creating an artificial sound. I take it meaning the sound will be exaggerated on the Fiorano Track, the place to be. In other words they are going to FLOOR it.

So, the 2 week build up for something "unique" with "searing performance" that is "amplified" is to reveal that the car makes sound? I cannot imagine that would be anything other than amazingly defeating not to mention not unique, no matter what they can do with the exhaust sounds, their back catalog, specifically the "XX" program cars, will be superior.

My guess is Ferrari has a new method of engine power assistance that requires heat vents at the rear, that would be unique and provide amplified searing performance...

Fiorano is a tiny circuit, no room for top speed (that would be possible at Nardo, but they are not going there), so the searing performance must be very quick, explosive...+30PS over the 812SF will not be enough, it has to be much more, maybe 150PS more...

Most likely by now they would have done an in person event etc. It seems to me due to Covid things are different this time. And in the past they'd have a showing for a small group, and then a bigger group etc... And it was a lot of interest here and on line before the TDF also.

What if they have some new engine or other technology that amplifies performance? We will find out more soon.

All in the eye of the beholder, sir. Never liked the design of the pre 80's Ferraris. Old junks, really.

All Ferrari is doing is building up for the revile. The 30 Hp isnt going to make the 812 sound any more than it currently has. But maybe because of the limited run there will be no GPF and who knows a 100% inconel exhaust ?

and they probably would have continued to be except they became useful again. From car shows to road tours and special commemorative events to acknowledge the history held by "old junk". Being old these cars required specialists to maintain and in many cases rebuild them. Values rose and fell with the economic climate and attracted in some cases vast sums of money. All the money floating around spawned massive interest for better or worse with all sorts of new fans.

Perhaps they'll use port injection along with direct injection as some cars like Huracan's and McLaren's have gotten away without needing a GPF by doing so.

I hope the surprise isn't electrification. This has been discussed before that a majority of people here want an unassisted naturally aspirated engine.

All of which you have mentioned have zero bearing on their design (subjective judgement), or their engineering value (objective value).
I maintain an E-Type, just for the fun of it, but it is an abhorrent car by modern standards. If it ever reached an absurd amount of money, I would happily sell it. They are cars after all, they are supposed to drive well.

Yes there are 812's without GPF but no 812 has a full Inconel exhaust. Neither F8 or Pista have. Only exhaust manifold.

So, a 2 week build up to an Inconel exhaust? Not titanium, but what might be a $20,000 exhaust (in the aftermarket) Does that explain the heat vents and the extra half meter of car length?? And, the lack of a trunk and rear window?

I am thinking it must be more, much more.

Well I also would hope its more. Heat vents and other body changes IMO just to distinguish a difference.

However, the heat vents appear to be active, not for show. The complete lack of rear window is very peculiar if done just to distinguish as is the lack of cargo space (what is shown would require lifting over the rear spoiler, a difficult proposition, so I think it is not for cargo, but service access).

Just the same, 2 week anticipation to introduce a "unique" exhaust, seems like it would disappoint if all the anticipation is for "only" such a change that is not particularly unique (Porsche has already offered a titanium factory exhaust, which is even lighter weight than Inconel) years ago

You're right - "astonished" is too strong a word. Dismayed would be better.

F-Chat is an awesome forum for information exchange. There is nothing like it for Ferrari owners.

There are people who post with incredible insight and detail, who put in the time and effort. Not just one or two, but lots of people who contribute to the quality of the board almost as a means of public service.

There are lots of fun clever posts, but also tons of acrimonious posts here where people go at each other for no apparent reason. I find this rude and not worthy of a quality public forum, maybe others find it acceptable and "witty".

The « much more » awaited here would be an XX car!

I’ve already mentioned it, presenting both coupé + Aperta versions is already huge work and incredible. But the teasing is done, we officially saw the coupé and saw the drawings of the Aperta - so ok, it will come. But if Ferrari states that something incredible will come - in addition to the coupé - the « much more » thing to present tomorrow would be to present an XX car.

According to many owners seems that the 812 with GPF sound deeper than without even because in the version with GPF Ferrari had to remove the back silencers ( this last info I am not sure but seems like this )

I'm interested how they achieve the 9,500 rpm redline. More compression or the variable throat intake like the LaFerrari ?

And if they have done this , it would have to one of the most finest V12's that Ferrari has ever made !. Call this car the Pinnacle

I share your dream about a 599XX replacement. If It happens (big IF), that would be an amazing surprise. 812VS, Aperta, XX...all together around Fiorano, what a sight!
