Regardless of where you drive in the Houston area, the sweet spot is daybreak on Sunday morning. The drunks are either in jail or home. The cops are taking a breakfast break before they start working church services. It is too early for the radical bicyclists. Enjoy.
Ahaha this is so true! By 9:30AM it’s all over... Although I am not sure I agree on the bicyclists. They have been up for a few hours. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
If you can beat them to beginning of the country roads, e.g., Highway 49 in Montgomery (which is 2 blocks from my garage door),you'll have a straight shot until you turn around.
If you get on the good roads on Sunday at sun up and get done within an hour or so, you can have some fun. Still much harder today than 10+ years ago, suburbia has built up a bunch since then. Most of the good ones are North and Northwest of Houston as listed previously.
Since we moved to the burbs on the west side Katy— I take the 360 for coffee every morning that I work from home now..... hit i10 to gr pkwy... do the usual suburbia yuppie trip for gas cash coffee.... i10 to gr pkwy is pretty good before 7:30 am. need to link up w local f car club for a drive... don’t care for triple digit rides though .. so need to find the slow group lol. also enjoy making a run to msr for Karting on random sat.
Andre- let’s get an msr Karting trip lined up when weather is good. Meet for coffee... then drive down to msr angelton. it’s always fun to have some 15 yr old pass me as I give it hell ..., In the karts.
I don't live in Houston, but I recommend MSR as long as it hasn't rained recently. If you go off track you'll need scuba gear! (Unless it's gotten better drainage since I was last there 10 years ago) It's a real shame TWS closed. That was a fun track for big cars. I think the best place to stretch your legs in a big power car is COTA. Tons of runoff so you have to work pretty hard to find a wall.
The same can be true for SpeedSportz. Either place I take a change of clothes if going after recent rain. I'm always up for karting as well so post here if anybody puts something together.
Let’s try this weekend. Saturday early if weather permits. MSR Houston Karting Hours of Operation Thursday: 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday : 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. meet for coffee on west side energy corridor 8:30am... then head to Msr for 10am... Prepare eat my Karting dust.... uhh as you lap me
Sorry, I can't do this weekend, already have plans Saturday and Mother's Day Sunday. Y'all have fun if you go!
