Hi I am new to the forum, just wanted to share my new car, and my first costs. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login I have had the car for a couple of weeks now and am loving it. I went for a short run to the local town the other day and when I returned to the car park the battery was dead. I rang the better half gave her instructions on where to find my starter pack in my garage, and waited for her to arrive. In a short time she arrived with battery starter, (great breakdown service!) I had read that it was not advisable to jump start the car, so went for the battery pack instead of jump leads. I found the battery in the boot on the right had side after removing the side panel, attached the pack to the battery terminals and pressed the button, she started first press. Disconnected battery pack and drove home. I tested the battery and it was completely dead, so after a bit of research bought a new Bosch S4 008 which is an 096 equivalent battery. Cost £80 from Costco. Since fitting the new battery car is fine and has had no problems. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
these cars tend to eat through batteries. you generally want to keep it on a tender or turn the batter off if its going to sit for a few days or more. that's a beautiful color for 599, congrats!
I had to replace batteries in both of my cars(California T and 488 Spider). The batteries from the factory are not very good and had to have them replaced. Make sure to keep your car on the trickle charger when it's home in the garage and you will be fine going forward.
Installed antigravity battery today. Expensive at £750 but light at 6.3kg ... will monitor in the next few days/weeks to see if better than lead/acid.
Glad to know that your story had a happy ending! Just remember to use the tender. Beautiful car, by the way!
Hi ttforcefed thanks, tha car came with a a battery tender but I was not using it, I thought it should be ok as I am using it plenty at the moment. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Is that a gel battery? I looked at more expensive options but decided that the Bosch comes with 4 year warranty and it will be cheaper to just buy another one in a five years time than pay a lot for a gel battery. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Thanks, only a happy ending as the wife is car friendly! Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Hi, the car is RH drive so made for the UK unfortunately we don’t have many roads near me where I can try out the performance. Where are you from? Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat.com mobile app
The intricate electronics on all Ferraris are power hogs, so the car needs to be plugged into a trickle charger if it's not driven for at least three days! I had a new battery installed but was bull headed and lazy to connect the trickle charger so it didn't last even 18 months. My SL-AMG which I've owned for 13 years actually has two separate batteries: one for the accessories / electronics and one for the engine. However, Ferrari engineers will never design the cars with two batteries since that will add "unnecessary weight". Just different design philosophies!
SF90 and the LaFerrari already have several batteries........... Generally: Always, and I mean always, use the battery tender, every day, every night, wherever you are, the batteries are so crazy poor it really is a shame. The tender does not load the battery, it only serves to maintain a certain minimum level of the battery. Once the battery level is below a certain point, it's too late anyway. Marcel Massini
Congratz! Very nice color combo and good looking! 599's are fantastic. Please enjoy in good health. Marcel Massini
