Will the Cibe 5 3/4" headlights fit better than Hella lights? The Hella lights project out about a 1/2"and have a flat face. The Cibe lights look more like Stock curved light. Any body have any experience with Cibe?

I replaced the headlight lenses with Cibie units, the bulbs with Osram HIRs and had a custom wiring harness with relays built for all above to get full power to the lights and take any significant electrical draw away from the headlight stalk.
I ran this setup for 6 months and then upgraded to 90 watt bulbs. I own the night. I akso upgraded the driving/fog lights at the same time.

Jimbo could you please post a schematic/wiring diagram and maybe a parts list showing how and where you spliced in the new headlight relays.

I would if I could. I got the entire harness custom made from Daniel Stern who got it made by Susquehanna Motorsports. The bulbs were purchased through candlepower inc.
Daniel Stern's website is very informative and all the parts were superior quality. The improvement in headlight output is amazing. It took a few hours to install neatly in the 512TR. All pieces fit without modification (hacking) of the original harness.

I'll try to get a parts list together this weekend. The Cibie lenses are no longer available apparently.

So with just a phone call to Daniel with a detailed desciption of what one wants and where....he can provide a complete "add-in" wiring harness to install? If so, that's great!

Exactly. He is very wise in the ways of lighting, but sometimes hard to get hold of. By contrast, Candlepower and Susquehanna Motorsports are there whenever you need and stand behind their products 100%.
Make sure they understand you have a US version Ferrari, as the Euro wiring connectors are different. The harness is custom made to plug into your existing harness with no splicing, hacking, etc and the connectors are way better than OEM parts. The harness is heavier gauge wire and the whole modification is undetectable when installed (except you can actually see where you are going at night). It also saves the headlight stalk electricals, as minimal current flows through it after installation.
There is a lot of good info on Daniel Stern's site regarding the difference between HID and HIR lighting options.

I consider Daniel Stern the "Dave Helms" of lighting.

I finally found the info from March 2009:

The wiring harness from Susquehanna Motor Sports (through Daniel Stern) was $168. Totally worth the $$$. It is beautifully constructed, custom for your vehicle, includes relays and fuses and is a plug-in with no cutting.

The lenses were Cibie CSR (Complex Surface Reflector) units that fit in the original hi and lo beam housings with no fuss. They supposedly "focus" the light reflected to the side back in front of the car. They were expensive, like ? $55 each (x 4)

The fog lights were H3 Osram Night Breaker +90 Ultra High output 55w. They plug in without modification (the fog lights in the 512TR are already on a relay). $53.61 for both (shipped).

The Hi beams are Narva Rangefinder (HIR) H1 +50 Super High Output 55w. $31.50 for 2 bulbs.

The Lo (dipped) beams are Osram Nightbreaker (HIR) Hi +90 Ultra High Output 55w. $41.18 for 2 bulbs.

My headlights are crazy bright, way, way bettter than stock GE bulbs. These replacements are HIR (Halogen Infrared Reflector) technology, and NOT "Xenon" (more properly HID - High Intensity Discharge), which would require extensive rewiring and fabrication for not much more output.

I hope this helps. I do not believe the Cibie CSR lenses are available anymore - there is an improved replacement.

10 years later Jim was there any adverse affects to the Cibie CSR using 90 watt Bulb?

Jim are your lights are composit body with glass lens Correct?
Does your lights have a 55 watt Max label?
And 90 Watt bulb didn't hurt it Correct?
    Example of label in pic

90 W in germany is illegal for street use, may be for boats ok
but 35 more W means more than 60% amps, so need stronger fuse and may be also then stronger wires
and 90 W makes a lot of heat, so not sure if the reflector will last long before get colored?

Run the higher wattage bulbs direct from battery with heavy wire. Switch heavy wire with extra relays.
