I still disagree with your implication that that Musk started Tesla to “take advantage of subsidies” .

After 18 years Tesla made its first profit - despite all of the government subsidies that it has received over that time https://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-hy-musk-subsidies-20150531-story.html https://www.nytimes.com/2021/01/27/business/tesla-earnings.html Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Well I guess he’s one up on Ford and Holden who still couldn’t make a profit in Aus despite huge subsidies! I’m not arguing that subsidies don’t exist BUT is Musk just chasing subsidies? I don’t think so; the reality is that the government is subsidising the new technologies that he’s interested in - chicken and egg. Of course any business is going to use what’s available to them but I don’t think Musk has ever lobbied for subsidies. https://www.forbes.com/sites/alanohnsman/2020/07/28/elon-musk-is-government-subsidy-critic-but-teslas-q2-results-were-helped-by-covid-19-aid/?sh=4da7f8b74543
I assume you posted the article to argue against yourself “The company was able to get into production owing to a $465 million low-interest loan provided by the Obama Administration and its customers received federal tax credits for years, as well as state rebates, for buying its zero-emission vehicles that were worth billions of dollars. The company is also the top beneficiary of indirect government subsidies in the form of sales of pollution credits” Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
