    Looking at one with 40k miles, and last service done 9 years ago and 15k miles.

    Would this be a deal breaker at $55k price tag?

    New to Ferrari world and trying to get info.

    Thanks

    Ask again in 348 section - factor in a major major in your offer but did it really have no oil change even in that period/mileage ?

    If the miles were all done soon after the oil change ie few or no recent miles on ancient well used oil it might be ok for the right price

    Seems a bit steep. 9 years catch up could be an expensive major when you take into account seals, gaskets, bushings, rubber components.

    Not knowing anything else about the car, $7-10K less would help your future costs spent on the services.

    It would need the full engine-out service, I suspect you will find other things "while you're in there" nearly a decade of deferred maintenance means lots of things will have to be repaired/replaced.

    That's steep for 40k miles considering proper major after 10 years will be 10k with other items that should be addressed.

    Given that mileage record i'd be pulling the front cover to check chains, sliders, and the inner intermediate sprocket bearing.

    ...and because it's all 30 years old, I'd replace it.

    ...and if it's still the TSB failure bearing, congrats, you dodged one.

    15K miles is not that much in 9 years.
    I would not expect huge extra costs for a major engine maintenance.

    If someone disagree please specify the extra cost to by expected and engine parts to be replaced on top of a normal service interval.

    You can easily perform a compression check on all cylinders which gives a good indication if there is something wrong.
    Also a testdrive with an experienced 348 driver tells a lot and last a ppi check.
    With this you can eliminate quite some unexpected maintenance.

    Factor in a big major (all fluids, air filter, all belts, tensioners, water pump, spark plugs, valve clearances), plus budget for:
    - new brake lines (flexibles and budget forsome solids ones as they corrode overtime);
    - new brake pads;
    - new coolant hoses;
    - new tyres (if not replaced in the last 5 years);
    - new cv boots.

    Does the A/C work?
