What is the reason? Just a distraction or something important?

I cannot imagine they would give us a big blank panel over the rear hatch area with carbon design strips without a solid reason...

The car looks so good that I'm sure almost every color will suit it.

You've done such an amazing job on your renders and kept the inspiration before the release of the official renders. Thank you so much!

I have no idea.. I believe they are ducts connected to the wheel arches. I can't imagine anything else. They would look like holes..

I'm thinking they are heat vents, for what, who knows, transmission, some new devices?

I think they are too far away from the wheel wells to be useful there, maybe air from the wheel wells drafts through, but as an "aero" device they would seem not very useful...

Every time I see this view, I cringe as it looks JDM to me. Makes me think they may call it the 812 Risotto and one can TM it with Japanese lettering on the rockers, extreme camber and a knuckle dragging oversized round muffler that goes waaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh.....

@isot your different renderings are really great! This 812 is another perfect base for receiving historic liveries.

Could also love to see a rendering with the 365 GTB/4 Daytona targa NART!

The 812 VS is the ultimate exponent of the two-seater V12 front engine GT family and this is a class where Ferrari has completely dominated through the decades.
In order to be easier to assess the evolution of design through times, in the following photos and in a chronological order starting from the present to the 50s, are presented identical side/rear views of the majority of Ferrari models of this GT family .

With all this talk of Ferrari aero development for the 812 VS perhaps a review of the other current new model the F8 would illustrate their aerodynamic development ideas. The same Ferrari engineers who developed the F8 aero program also likely contributed to the VS aero program to. Some familiar aero management ideas will be noted in the images below even though it relates to a mid-engine program >

The size of the blown rear spoiler on the VS is impressive compared to the more modest size of the F8 version.
The F8's use of 6 vortex generators also adopted for the VS but used on top of the body. Though no underbody views of the VS have been shown yet...
Apologies, for the small size images included.

Good observation about underbody VGs moved or copied to the top of the car.

VS, though, doesn’t have blown rear spoiler as there is no opening on the top surface to feed the underside of the spoiler. I believe the black strip is just decorative.

Thanks guys for the great visual compilations.

The one conclusion I have is each is captivating and fascinating in its own way- happy Ferrari Friday! Next week at this time we should have even more to discuss :)

    How do Vortex Generators Work?

    shows that the "carbon angles" on the back deck of the 812VS are merely for design, they are not doing anything productive;

and, on the underside the the F8, those not "vortex generators" (the above video shows what a vortex generator does, i.e. creates a vortex), those angles under the F8 are re-directing air where they want it for whatever purpose, looks to be removing some of the low pressure under the car

Has anyone suggested the 812 VS to have a super capacitor like on the Lambo Sian? This tech would add minimal weight unlike adding a full battery pack.

    not this thread, but recently:

    https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/posts/147861871/

short answer: extremely unlikely, patented by Lamborghini+MIT and no Ferrari patent filed

also, would not be unique as has already been done and Ferrari indicates something unique...
