    Moon shot? I have the warranty and needed a brand new box, so the new box plus install, costs $40k at a dealership. Indy wise, it would be cheaper, but you cannot go indy w/ the warranty and why would you.

    Interesting that the sensor itself is slightly below $2K. It's a flimsy piece of cheap plastic zip-tied to the internals immersed in hot oil when the car is running. It's a joke. When I saw mine, the zip ties were all brittle and just crumbled when the tech touched them

    The rest of the cost is labor.

    Part is only $1,200, but entire box needs to be cracked open to change it / hence the labor cost....

    I agree full trans. replacement is in that neighborhood. I thought he was saying the high amount was paid do to sensor failure.
