My car doesn't have the Pininfarina badge on either side. There are no holes in the metal on either side of the car. Also, with a few exceptions (Mine and the two-badged car mentioned above, I believe the Pininfarina Badge was placed on the Driver's Side of the car. RHD or LHD, the badge migrated 'always' staying on the Driver's Side.
That would make sense, but the pictures that are shown are of LHD cars with badges on either side. Maybe the cars pictured weren't production cars. Apparently it's a mystery.
Dave, Which pictures? What book are you looking at? BTW, if you don't know, I'm from Lakewood (Parents live in Lakewood, Bro in West Denver; worked at Peaceful Valley Scout Ranch near you in a younger life), and several here are from Golden, Erie*, the Foothills and a couple of others scattered across the Front Range. Lots of helpful FChatters 'local' to you to lean on. * - The guy in Erie is Dave Helms, an Indie 'Legend' F-Car, Maranello-Trained, Mechanic. Get to personally know him if you don't already.
Mark, I'm looking at the pictures in the link included in the original post. On that web page, if you scroll to the bottom and click on the red 308 you'll see the pictures I'm referring to. I do know of Dave Helms, and also Bill Evenden (Maranello Motorworks). I spoke to Dave once years ago but I'm sure he wouldn't remember me. I do have some minor issues with my new 328 that I'd like to try to fix myself. It would be great to have some local experienced guys to contact for advice!
I see the picture you are talking about - where there is badging on the passenger side. That could be one of the prototype cars. Could be a mistake. I take it with a grain of salt. Under Enzo - race team 1st and the cars were only a means of funding the race team.
Here's the pic where it's the most obvious. The tail lights are in the right order. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes - It is a factory picture, and it shows the indicators on the outside of the tail lights, just like every other factory picture of a 308/328 that I have seen in 43 years of looking at 308/328 GTB's/GTS'
