Annoying Dirt on 458 Manifolds: Fix

If you have a 458 you have probably found that after EVERY drive there will be dust/dirt buildup on the little ridges on the red manifold covers (I guess that's what you call them). See the pic with the screwdriver pointing to the area. Short drive, long drive didn't matter, the dirt would be back and I'd clean it again which is problematic because the red paint wipes off easily. I only use water to wipe them down.

On a whim, I sprayed the manifold covers with Griots Engine Bay Dressing after the umpteenth time cleaning them. The red color immediately just popped and looked brand-spanking new. Ok, great little find.

Over the past weekend, I drove 250 miles with the local FCA group. When I got home, I found that there wasn't a bit of dust on the manifold ridges. The car was covered in dirt but not a spec where it normally would be. Woohoo.

Anyway you get it. This might be a handy product to keep around the garage if you are into detailing.

I’ve used this stuff for several years, on my 430 and now the 458. I keep it away from the MAF but you can coat most parts and wiring according to the label.

Just spray on, no wiping

Hope it works for y'all the way it did for me. Clean the red covers before spraying, but don't rub too hard. Even so you might get a bit of red on the cloth.

Spiders don't have this problem? Maybe the airflow design is different for them...
