Has anyone upgraded their door speakers and which ones did you use? I had my eye on some Focals but they're half an inch too big. Interested to see how anyone else may have solved the crappy stereo that the car came with. Cheers!

I have a Spider (so only the door speakers). I swapped out the original for a Alpine head unit and Focals for the doors. The sound is now good, balanced, pure, crisp and clean. It doesn’t have much punch though, if you want muscular bass and also the ability to hear songs clearly with roof down at high speed, you will need a solution like the above.

Interesting to hear, cheers. I'm only after a 'roof-up' solution so I'm keeping the original Becker head unit and already have a bluetooth gadget attached so I can stream my music. I've found an amp (but not bought yet) and just need to sort the speakers. What Focals did you use? I was thinking of these but my indy reckons they won't fit without new frames, etc:

    What do you think?

Do NOT do it. Listen to music at home. Buy Sonos speakers.

I think reaching out to scuderiaaudio and asking Mike what he recommends would be a good first step.

I kind of know what I'm after, just wondering how others have got on. For clarity, I'm in the UK.

That's really useful, thanks very much. Funnily enough my car is with Aldous right now having some bits done and he's measured the stock speakers that come out at 6" and is not convinced the 6.5" will fit without a fair bit of work. The scuderia audio ones are 5.25" so I'm at a bit of a loss really. Stock speakers:

Hi Spleen sorry for the delayed reply. I had to check the packaging for the speakers which I kept in my garage. They are five inch Focals, these ones:

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Focal-Access-2-Way-Coaxial-Speakers/dp/B00J7QDF5K/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=focal+5+inch+car+speakers&qid=1606291994&sr=8-3

great speakers, and if you have a system with an amp and more punch than mine, even better. I am a strong believer spending most at the sound generation end of the system (amp), but having said that, speakers are what’s finally turning the signal into sound. These are nicely balanced and sensitive.

    good luck!
