I was pleased to see my 550 was to be reincarnated in various other cars. It really was pristine. I would buy a donor car from myself any day of the week. And I had recently had the belts done - you can’t part out previous labour expenditure, sadly.

speaking of the Swiss market, I wonder what the latest is on that base spec 02 1000 km gated 575 which I missed out on by the skin of my teeth at Elite Zuzwil in Q4 2014. Argento over nero. It turned up, taxes duly paid, for sale in the UK, twice, then has not been seen since. I think it would sell for £250k+ in a shot today, though Brexit and taxes would complicate. Price in 2014 was 130k CHF, a tad under £100k.

I recall that Swiss manual. Argento/Bordeaux IIRC. Marketed by the now disgraced JD Classics - I believe that you discovered that the ticket may have been £230k back then...

I was aware of it when I was shopping in 2014 but it was a little above my budget at CHF130k and I wanted a car that I could drive. I almost regret not going to see a manual car in Geneva that was advertised for CHF90k, but the colours didn't do it for me and by that time, I found my F1 for CHF77k which shocked me as it was in as-new condition (albeit with 35,000kms showing). Gone are the days when you can pick up such a 9 yr old car in 'perfect' condition for just 25% of MSRP, but I will keep checking those F12 prices....

So with LHD and km odometer it's a European continent import to the UK... not sure how /why it did make sense once upon a time, but here it is.

Even though the WSR is just a marketing wheeze, with no performance or handling improvements over standard, they have become collectible.

This is a 11000 km version, which should be super desirable. Against that is the LHD factor combined with Brexit, meaning it will have to pay VAT on being repatriated to the EU, depending on country that’s around 20% on top of the sales price. That’s depressing the LHD market here.

there was a lot of buying of LHD Ferraris from the continent into the UK in around 2015 when the euro-pound rate was over 1.40. I bought a couple then myself.

That seems unlikely as the car is of EU origin & would normally be local tax paid prior to coming to UK

So there's a price target to aim for in recent history.

It will be interesting to see how this one unfolds.

Another Maranello for sale at the most optimistic SOR dealer in the UK - Slades.

    https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/11548128

Really tidy low mile car with a yawning gap in it's service history -

"The service history on the vehicle was originally under taken by Westover Sports Cars before Rardley Motors undertook the servicing in 2002/2003 and 2019. In the period between these dates the car was held in the clients private collection and the vehicle was maintained by the clients private mechanic."

No doubt it's been serviced and cared for - but how much does this effect the value vs a car that had document history from a known source?

    £130K asking price.

Maybe serviced and cared for but didn't go anywhere and wasn't MOTed for 10 years.

Ooh I did miss that, looks like it's at Barkaways.

They had that on the market for a while.

I guess they saw what the accident damaged car brought and figured it was worth a shot.

And for context, the same dealer sold this gorgeous (albeit not perfect) 7k mile swaters car for 150K fully sorted including a major just a few months ago in February. I spoke to the salesperson that sold this car and he was kind enough to share the details of the sale to give me some market context. He also said the car had a lot of traction and I got the feeling he thought they left some money on the table. Apparently they're going to try and get it back with this one.

You are probably right on that. Dealers and/or consigners seeing what they can get in this crazy Covid market. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Ferrari prices across the board have been going crazy of late and Maranellos seem to be going right along with the trend. Things will plateau and fall off at some point as they always do as the speculators and flippers come in, more and more cars come on the market and supply eventually exceeds demand. That's basically what it always comes down to over time, simple "Econ 101" supply/demand dynamics.

What seems unlikely, that it will go back to the EU? I have no clue whether it will, but if it does, the purchaser will have to pay VAT in the country of import, regardless of whether VAT was originally paid in that or any other country.

It’s a fact of the current post Brexit situation and has hit some of the traders who customarily deal in high end LHD cars hard. 19% TVA on a €2m Ferrari going to Germany from London is almost €400k on top of purchase price. Many didn’t see it coming, or expected it to be covered by the agreement, but it isn’t.

For a 15k mile car that's absurd even with the covid premium. I imagine what they're doing is listing at a ridiculous price for someone to falsely think they're getting a great discount when they accept a $175k for it.

Aside from the modular wheels it's not even really even spec'd out much, still carpet shelf and standard seats, although those may just be personal preference. Looks like the air vents were replaced with those from a 575. Did the 550's originally come with air vents that had the arrows?
