I'm putting a new engine harness in my 2007 Ford Explorer. The O2 sensor numbers for the after cat sensors seem backwards. They show in the locator and schematic as:

    Front
    Left Right
    21 11
    12 22

At first I thought that it's just the numbers but the actual harness lengths seem to want them swapped also.
    Any thoughts?

I thought the first digit is the bank and the second is the position.

Did you already try to match up the wire colors in each harness plug?

Yes, they match the schematic colors but the physical lengths of the harness tails means I have to crisscross the transmission to plug the rears O2s in as per the schematic.

The harness runs down the left side of the transmission. The tail for the left O2 is long. The tail for the right is short.
Maybe the intent is for the harness to cross over the transmission midway back?

I assume you already removed the existing harness? If so, unfortunately I don't have any other ideas for you. Personally, I would trust the diagram and connect as such, just listen for misfires or rough running at the initial startup. If you hear any, swap them and see what happens. Good luck.

    Fortunately, the fronts seem ok.
Years ago, I swapped fronts on a car I had converted from CIS to EFI. The banks chased each until one side was pegged lean and the other pegged rich. The exhaust pipes on one side glowed a nice cherry red. :)

Maybe find another 2007 and use a GoPro on a stick and take some videos.
