E10? Did you mean 10F? Even if 10F/36F, I don't recognise any of the colours on the plugs. F456 Instrument Plugs

You can see the crap that had formed in the high pressure piston area. No idea what that is. The piston was well and truly stuck. The last picture shows the piston, it's retained by the spring clip. In my case the O ring had disintegrated and each time the piston went down the bore a small sliver of rubber was produced. So I assume that is what jammed the piston. So clearly something that needs a preventive service every 10yrs or so - I would say. All refitted. Have pedal travel now, but not much pedal pressure yet - will bleed the brakes tomorrow and see.
Accumulators The rear suspension items have a different part number Brake Pump Acc 70000504 Suspension Acc 158693 Stamped on the Brake Pump unit it says 210bar 0.25L. In regard to the suspension.... I was speaking to a friend who restores American cars but once upon a time worked as a Ferrari mech... He said that although the Citroen units may have the same manuf part number they are not the same as used by Ferrari. He said if you fit the Citroen units in your 456 you get very hard suspension.
Ros, do you know what the differences are between what you just posted and that link I sent on what Jason posted in the Cross Reference / Interchangeable Parts thread back in 2013? As I recall, those BMW 37211132043 accumulators worked well for Jason and he was pleased with the suspension feel.
John- Those have worked well for everybody who has made the swap for the self-leveling accumulators. I think the trick is you just need to add a washer to get everything to match.
Pump So when I finished last night, I had pedal travel once again, but no resistance in the pedal. Was hoping that it was air in the system and bleeding would sort it. Another thing, was that the pump kept on charging even after 60secs. So I ran it in 1min bursts with a gap, to ensure it didn't over heat. But even after many cycles there was still no resistance in the pedal. Bleed the front end Now the pedal went hard with little pedal movement Things were not looking good - was starting to doubt the repair. Moved the car, and let it sit. Went to reverse it back into the working space, and behold power assisted brakes. ! So that was about 30mins of mucking about with it before the power assistance returned. New Problem I think the accumulator has died. Every time I press the brake the pump now runs for a few seconds and then stops. Seems to be suggesting that it was not able to store pressure.
Common problem with our 456/550/575M engines. What adhesive did you use that actually "stuck" to the covers?
a little super glue to get it held in the correct position cable ties for the abs plastic metal staples - to tie the pieces together and a soldering iron with a flat tip for melting the plastic then went at it like you would tig welding.
Hello to everyone, I have Ferrari 456M GTA, 1999 year with OBD2 diagnostic port. I have a problem with airbag ligt on the dash. It came one after I removed the interiot to redone it (also stering wheel and dashboard) and I had to turn on the power ON for a while. When the interior was folded back, the airbag lamp came on, off course. The problem is that I dont have a proper scan tool to remoove the error. I tried Launch diagnostic and some others, but I can reed only the engine codes, nothing more. I also dont have a Ferrari dealer in my contry so that is a problem for me and I have no idea how to solve this yet. I saw there is some Ferrari scan tools on ebay for arround 200 eur, but Im not shure the will help me in this situation. Maybe there is any other way how to clear the AIRBAG error code. Thanks in advance!
You need someone with a Factory Ferrari SD tool or a Leonardo Tool. The airbag ECU of that era does not connect to the CAN bus and therefore cannot be seen by any scanner connected to just the OBD2 connector. It is possible (not sure) that you can connect the Launch scanner to a custom connector that talks to the airbag controller and read / clear the error that way. There is always the piece of black tape over the red airbag light.
Ok. Thank you. The black tape is not an option for me I did a lot of job to restore the car and this is basicaly the last thing to do. But how the Ferrari SD of Leonardo scanners are connected to the car? If they are using OBDII port to read all the cars equipment, then you just need the scanner that can access these control safety and comfort units? There is a guy in England - Ratarossa. Maybe you know. Youtuber, and he was using some cheep scanner to reset the faults on his 456. I need to find a way how to reset the AirBag light The last thing to do..... The WSM says to diagnose the airbag system with an SD-1 through the OBDII connector. The SD2 and SD3 both have an SD1 emulator mode, but whether any of the cheaper scanners can do this task depends on what they copied from real diagnostic tools. Earlier OBDII Ferraris relied on a combination of SD tools and serial connectors. Should be an expert out there who knows.
Thank you for your answer. I guess I will try to buy this cheep scanner and if it fails to clear this error, I will send it back. .
