Took delivery of my SF9 with the AF package yesterday.

I am very old school and am not use to all this tech in a Ferrari. I was wondering if any other owners are having issues with the voice command system? I don't touch the voice command button(hands are no where near it) and all of a sudden the system will start asking me what I want... change the radio station, call someone, enter an address, etc etc... I have driven the car several times and it keeps coming on. If I am on a 30min drive it will pause the music, ask me what I want until I say cancel, at least 5-10 times... Its really frustrating.

This is one of the first SF90's my dealer has received and no one at the dealer has really gotten familiar with the system since there was no training on the car due to COVID. I just wanted to know if any other owners have similar issues or if anyone knows how to turn it off completely.

This has a similar flavor to a problem I’m having on my Roma.

In my case the cruise control button wouldn’t work reliably and sometimes just cut out entirely. It is on the touchpad portion of the steering wheel. Came this way from the factory. Dealer just swapped known good steering wheel off their demo and it works fine in my Roma. Bad steering wheel does not work in their demo Roma. Likely the embedded controller for the touchpad is flaky or mis-programmed. They are ordering a new steering wheel.

Your issue sounds similar but on the voice button perhaps. On a long trip I took the whole touchpad would occasionally wig out and come back after a couple of minutes. Something else to look out for...

Wow! Interesting to hear about your cruise control situation. I am going to have to ask them and see if it is a steering wheel issue. It is getting really old having the car cut off the music and ask me for a command haha.

What is interesting in my case is that I actually tried a demo SF90 a few months ago at a Ferrari event. The demo I was using had the SAME issue. The voice command system would not give up. The Ferrari specialist who was ridding shotgun with me at the event blamed the problem on the car being a demo and that the car was being used almost like a prototype. And sure enough my car has the same thing.

Two cars with the exact same problem would tend to rule out a hardware issue because the implication would be perhaps all units had the problem which doesn’t seem to be the case. However some early software could be an issue so it would be helpful to find out if the control software is up to date.

Is there no way to disable the voice command system?

I noticed in a test drive of Roma if I said the word “Ferrari” it would come on. It was annoying as it was a test drive with the dealer. Its part of the “Ciao Ferrari” voice command system. Mercedes has “hey Mercedes” and its the same thing. I find it very annoying and just want to turn it off.

I recall a review on Youtube of sorts that actually talked about disabling the voice command. Let me see if I can find it.

Does your dealer not have an owners manual for the infotaiment system?

I know this is going to drive me bat...

If you can PLEASE find that video, that would be amazing! I have been driving the car for the past five days and the voice command system has not taken a break! It is very random, low speeds, high speeds, with the radio on, with bluetooth streaming on, windows down, windows up. There seems to be no rhyme nor reason for it to get activated. I sit in complete silence at times and it'll come on, so I don't think it is even listening to trigger words.

My dealer did not get the full training on the car because of COVID. But my amazing sales associate is reading the manual start to finish to teach me how to use the car better. I just need to turn this damn voice control system OFF. Who even uses it!

After watching a few hours of video content, I've not been able to find it.
What has your dealer come up with so far?
I watched the Roma review with Harry Metcalfe, and the car he drove did the same. Unfortunately, he later found out that it was not possible to turn it off.

In the Shmee150 review of the Roma, he talked about disabling the touch pads. Maybe that's the trick?

I wonder if there will be a n update at some point soon, which changes this. They will get a flood of complaints from not only the SF90 crowd, but also from all the Roma owners. I know it's Ferrari, but in this case I think they will find people to be overly unhappy about this.

Dealer has no solutions over the phone, have to send it in for service. Not really sure what it is, so hard because the dealer has only received three of these SF90s and I am probably the only one driving it daily lol. So for me this voice control issue is a biggie.

I dont know about disabling the touch pads. Thing is that you need the touch pads to control the radio, nav, the whole infotainment system...

It was not a permanent disable. What I recall was more like putting them to sleep. One touch to wake them up and then you do what you need to do. Then after like 15 seconds, they go back to sleep.

The problem you are having is from your left hand accidentally touching the area where the voice command button is. This is very easy to do. Because of that, Ferrari included a function where you can make the buttons on the wheel "timeout" after 15,30, or 45 seconds. When the icons disappear, you cannot use them. To reactivate the buttons simply touch the control pad with your right thumb. It is a must do!

Go to Settings > Lock and Sound > Steering Wheel Timeout > The choose 15,30,45 sec (30 sec is the default).
