OTO and earlier 612s have exactly the same belts, cam drives, tensioners, etc. A 5 year cambelt service including changing filters and all fluids, plus inspections, usually runs $3500-5000 as long as no problems are discovered.

    Thanks TAZ
    I’m getting quotes from 1500 to 7000
Some mechanics say it’s easy job they can do it with out removing the camp covers

Affirmative, it can be done without removing the cam covers as long as you do not need to degree the cams. The $1500 quote would be a lock and swap with no fluid service or tensioner replacement.

the last time we had the belts done on our 612 was in Dec. 2019.

Costed around 7500eur, with tensioners, valve cover gaskets (there was some small leakage) etc.

7500 euros seems a bit excessive unless a whole lot more was done like a new water pump, etc.

Hi Taz; may I infer that you would do a belt replacement without replacing tensioner bearings?

Seth- Absolutely not, but some owners and techs do it. Mine had a belt service with new tensioners last year with the same techs who have done 3 belt changes for her, even though it was a lock and swap.

I mean, why? once one is in there for belts the cost of new bearings is utterly nominal and virtually no added labor

Donald- That is definitely up there and does not include an F1, power steering, coolant, or transaxle fluid change and service or tensioner replacement.

My last belt change (2020) was $2400 labor including everything I mentioned above except an unneeded spark plug change and was $2400 labor and $750 in parts including new HE tensioner bearings. My last full cam timing belt change was $3300 labor.

Thanks for the additional pricing information, Terry. Getting an estimate from the Ferrari dealer for belts on the 612 OTO was just to make sure the independent shop I have been using for 12 years for my 1969 365 GTC was in the ballpark for the 612. Even so, paying nearly two grand more for labor than you did is somewhat dispiriting. If I still have the 612 OTO in five years, it would be worth taking it to the shop in TN (not that far from me in MD) that you used. I could vacation while the work was being done and the difference in labor costs would pay for the trip.
