For another price point. We have a "basket case"... dubbed the Toastarossa. https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/who-needs-a-parts-car.636561/ With auction fees, it sold for right at $40,000.
https://www.hagerty.com/media/market-trends/hagerty-insider/market-for-modern-classics/ The market for classics isn’t as wild as you think (Hagerty not me). Good article nonetheless Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
With auction fees the Copart testarossa sold for $38,148.00. Inside the front trunk of this car is a very nice and DRY carpet set.the original manuals and pouch, the jack kit, the toolset and the spare. Even the hood insulation or cloth was still attached. The car had 25K on the clock. Has a very nice shape almost new stainless steel exhaust system, which appeared undamaged. I think the engine and transmission will end up being very useable, as well as three out of the four rims. I saw the car, and will pick it up tomorrow.
Testarossa's never say die! some people might have heart-attacks and/or strokes but the cars never die How much you got?
Brian, so you are thinking the engine and tranny are good in the car? If they not, I would think its going to be hard to recoup the sales prices. What do you estimate a engine and tranny value?
Nash Bridges was actually a pretty decent show (not nearly as good as 'Vice of course!!). Looks like they are going to film it as a two our movie first with the hopes that it gets picked up as a series. DJ will be in it. I read many years ago that Miami Vice was set up that way as well. The 'Vice initial two hour premier back in September 1984 was SO awesome!
IMO the Ferrari classic market peaked in 2016, good cars like a Boxer would sell in a week for $275k, now they sit for years at the same ask and adjusted for inflation which we have had a lot of lately so they have actually depreciated. Appreciation of the initial purchase makes the hobby more interesting but speculating on classic cars is gambling like buying gold, but a gold bar wont have a major mechanical failure that destroys half its value, which can happen if you drive the classic car or let it sit as that can cause more problems. As certain classics have gotten priced out of reach in the last bubble up to 2016 they try and justify so so cars as being classics and a investment as well, like your old BMW M3s, Miatas, Z06 etc, Its actually funny to watch the justification and I'll bet some of the more irrational exuberant fall for it.
