As for why Patek Philippe is nixing the 5711? It is all about protecting the long term health of the brand, Mr Stern says.

“We are doing this for our clients who already own a Patek Philippe and to protect our brand from becoming too commercial. I can continue to make this fantastic product, or sell 10 times more of them. But I am not working for numbers. I am protecting the company for the future, for my children,” he insists. “A watch should not be a top leader on its own. That is too dangerous,” he concludes.

I suspect the 5711 will be replaced by a significantly more expensive 6711 so that the Company, not the flippers, will reap more of the profits. I think Ferrari is exactly doing that.
Btw...expect the 6711 to be almost indistinguishable to the 5711 except for the most adept eye.

The whole watch community is waiting to see what Patel does with the 5711 replacement...myself included...even though I was fortunate enough to get a 5712 myself just recently...I hope it’s even better!

I have a 5712g I got 10 years ago before the craze started. Personally I like the added Complications on the dial it was my holy grail watch back then so I guess I've got good tastes! The steel craze never really made sense to me, and my watch being white gold gets mistaken for steel all the time. I've since changed the band color and clasp to reflect my tastes. You must not wear it often because these watches are scratch magenta and yours looks mint!

someone needs to develop a nano-ceramic coating for watches like they have for cars. you see mine has taken quite the beating over the years. hardest part was finding a calatrava cross clasp for the wide nautilus strap.

In the absence of clean fuels (which may admittedly save them) what possible relevance is their engineering and product DNA to electric, absolutely zero except to badge snobs, And they don’t have the scale either.

Agreed - however as long as they can produce ICE or ICE/Hybrid they will remain relevant. If not (due to regulations) its bye bye RACE

Re Clean fuels - that one will be a political football as politicians are drinking the EV cool-aid and will find it virtually impossible to back-track

Are you really telling people not to wear their watch because of possible scratches?
It's like not driving your Ferrari because of possible accidents.

    I like to wear/use my stuff ....

    No.
I was merely commenting that in that picture it had no scratches. If you’d bother to read post #9 you should be able to put 2 and 2 together.

Agree it is very possible that by time they are eliminating ICE they will be 100pc clean and indeed more eco across whole life cycle also.

And yes, I did bother. But if you don't have your reading glasses within reach, there is no chance to discover the scratches ..... 50+ ;)
