I am sure you are a nice fellow, and I’m all for having a sense of humor (which many people in this world lack in spades). And I’m happy that such a post can be made as a joke for you.

That being said, it is quite tone deaf and a very “Let them eat cake” thing to do. A large percentage of the population has suffered economically over the past 12 months, and I promise you it is certainly no joke to them.

There is no doubt we are lucky to be members of a forum/club where (as you say) whining about color choices and Ferrari option prices dominate the discussion around here, and not more serious matters like worrying about where your next meal is coming from or how to pay rent. Perhaps in the future you will consider a more magnanimous approach.

I understand their point. It is very humane and nice of them. I don't know @SoCal to az for very long, but he does not strike me as a bad guy or even insensitive. I am also sure he didn't mean to hurt anybody nor would he, intentionally hurt anybody. He has been very kind and helpful to me, once he even offered me a Burrito (which I will cash in one day!!!, If he thinks I have forgotten, he has something coming his way!). I am sure he just thought about the joke and nothing else.

Points have been heard and with that said, I also agree that we should lighten up a bit. Whomever didn't like it, can choose to change the channel.

There are actually many families in the position you described. It is no joke to them. Poor taste.

A joke (usually) has one defining feature—it’s funny. That is it exposes something you missed and the surprise factor causes the laugh.
    This wasn’t a joke.
It was a guy we chat with regularly, and like, who spins a tale of woe, a tale many are truly experiencing and many of us here have actually experienced or fear terribly happening....and then says, “April Fools!”

I am very glad it wasn’t true and I wish all of you the ongoing success and health you dream of.

Except it’s not a joke. It’s a lie in masquerade. Just like your meme.

I’m pretty darn sure if someone “I knew” 30 years ago told me he had lost everything and needed to liquidate possessions he loved to make ends meet, then 20 min later said, “just joking,” I’d shake my head like WTF dude...that’s not funny.

Lighten up a bit guys. While Covid is serious business, we need to let off some steam. It all gets too dark and gloomy if we can't stick it to the virus a bit.

Personally I did not find it quite funny, but choosing the 1st of April for such an announcement was a serious hint...

Socal- The bank wire I sent you, after reading your post, for an initial $1 million gift, not a loan, should have hit your bank account. Upon reading your subsequent post, would you kindly return the $1 million plus $15 bank charge at your earliest convenience.

Yes, but please ship them in a special container so they remain fresh. As for the $1 million refund, if it is too much trouble, keep it and if the burritos you send are really tasty, we can work something out.

I have a feeling you have a Burrito stand somewhere. Maybe many... You always seem to offer Burritos in exchange for something! Are you the Breaking Bad version but with Burritos? Breaking Bad Burritos? Sounds ominous... Bad Burritos... Seems like they will make you pay in the end, pun intended.

Let's all agree to disagree! Move on.. Nothing to see here... If you do not like it, just like you don't like a tv show, change the channel. You are not being forced to come back to the thread. Don't have to keep returning to raise a stink.
