WTF!!! Are you serious! I guess its the wheels vs our crappy roads not the car. Are the Ferrari OEM forged wheels any stronger?

My 991 C2S hits the same pot holes that would destroy and FF wheel with zero problems, I guess the weight of the V12 over the front wheels vs no engine weight over the 911 front wheels may explain why the Porsche is so much better. I do wonder how anyone could use the FF on an grand tour with a bent rim around any corner vs a 911 that can seem to go anywhere vs crappy roads

I went with 2 new front michelins with taller sidewall and hoping that works. If it doesn’t ill be done with ff.

I'm with ttforced on this. I just noticed that both my front winter wheels (the original ones that came with the FF once-upon-a-time in 2012) are bent (again) - not sure I can get them fixed this time... Damn soft wheels...

The wheels are really the same as on other cars, its the lack of tire side wall and other decisions made by the engineers back when they designed the FF. I just dont think they considered pothole issues as a priority back then. They prioritized the drive experience, which I think is something we all appreciate, but as they say in life, be careful what you wish for.

One thing there is to be said about that. The OE tyres are ridiculous. No surprises when the wheels are wrapped in elastic bands and the car weighs nearly two tonnes.

yeh its all makes. but most cars are leased and alot of them get insured when new so a non issue for most who dont own their cars for long periods

Took my 488 gtb in for yearly maintenance this week. 3 out of 4 wheels bent. Our roads are awful, but never hit a pothole or rough patch (dodged most of them) in a way that I thought would result in a bend. I guess this will be happening yearly.

Are the OEM forged wheels any stronger than the basic FF wheels?

The funny thing is a lot of people are reading this thread thinking they don’t have any bent wheels...guess who the joke is on?

Hm, is the solution the CF wheels?:)

Fact is that they are rated quite high in load capacity, and they don't bend:)

The OEM forged are stronger but they are not so much stronger.

The fact of the matter is metal wheels are constantly getting out of round with little bumps and impacts. Most of the time this can be countered with road force balancing, but if you drive your car enough, your metal wheels will become out of round- and btw- they never began perfectly round in the first place. That's why theres road force balancing needed for brand new wheels and tires. One time I had Pirelli tires with over 120lbs road force per tire on the entire set of 4 tires! (120lbs is crazy high). Pirelli replaced under warranty. :)

I think CF wheels will flex and go back to their shape, until they encounter a force thats too much and then I think you will get a crack or problem. I have very little experience with them, but I am running them on my Pista and so far so good.

Most car makers go with higher aspect ratio for the front with staggered set-up. Ferrari should have spec'ed this car with 19" front using 40 ratio. It will also give the car a more balanced look to boot.

What size did you go with?

How's that working out so far? Are they buttery smooth;)

Remember to drop the pressure a bit over stock. Take it down 0.1 bar.
