I agree that Charles is still being overlooked. I think Alonso showed us a lot today also, even after being away 2 years.

I guess we’ll find out how Hamilton rates vs Max in better equipment this season.

As i said 3 times at least today I’m no Hamilton fan but let’s not make him the equal of Vettel. He has been a stud at every level. Yeah he has been beaten no doubt but overall as a rookie he stood tall against Alonso whom I see as a great one, beat twice button. He is no slouch.

    Don’t think so.
Next year with the budget cap will be a totally different era.
Gene Haas would be stupid to leave now.

no need to convince me. Car aside, he has gotten the job done time and again. 2017/2018 showed how he responds when challenged and I’d expect nothing less this season. Will make for an exciting season.

Charles on Softs might make for an interesting start?

Ver's .4 sec. lead over Ham is not insignificant for Q3, typically closer times. I think (hope!) we will have some close racing this season but as has been said, too early to tell. Lec in P4 is great but he was the 1st of the soft tire runners and some behind we on mediums. So better than last year but I'm afraid Ferrari is going to be in the middle of huge mid pack fight with half the field.

If it wasn't for the budget cap this would be the final year though. Their car almost completely undeveloped, only adjusted for technical changes. It's not as far back as I thought, which is good. Lots of aero time for next year.

Great quali from Max. IMO Mercedes DID sandbag, their deficit isn't big, on par with Ferrari's 2019 pole here and we know how that season went.

I hope this isn't a performance we can expect from Perez, no rear gunner for Max won't make this easy today.

Pleasantly surprised at Ferrari's pace. What a lap from Leclerc! Mclaren unexpectedly slow. Expected much more from them.

I do wonder where the ''error prone'' has come from...has he made that many errors last year? Apart from the high speed spin in the wet with a front wing that was adjusted 6 degrees different on each side and no championship on the line, I can't really recall any errors in the races last year?

Also disagree that the mercedes is a Diva. He's only 2 tenths clear of Bottas, car didn't look a handful to drive any more once the sandbags where taken out.

Hungary crashing to the grid...and turkey ;)
Overall last year wasn’t too bad but before he was the second coming of Montoya except I’d be scared of Montoya and his crazy temper in a fight ;)

While they may be "better drivers" neither Max nor Charles has learned how to preserve tires.

Can only compare like for like, and Max's race pace + tyre preservation vs his teammates has been superb.

Can't speak for Charles myself as the Ferrari has been pretty irrelevant.

Hungary...call it whatever you want but it wasn't in racing conditions. Too fast on a slick track, not paying attention...who knows. Fact is he still finished 2nd that race ;)

    Agree
Saying Max is error prone since 2018 is totally unfair.

Concerning the W12 we will have a clear answer this afternoon because it will be a very windy day in Bahreïn.
With Full tanks and strong wind everything will be there to expose this supposed aerodynamic unbalance..
    Wait and see.

I do think that’s mainly because they didn’t had the space to do so. Both off them had to push every lap to stay somewhat close to the mercedes.

With the Mercedes having such an advantage even when taking a little pressure off it still was the quickest car on track. Making it very easy (or more easy) to preserve tires.

There was a comparison of Ver and Bot last year where they both had an almost equal lap time showing how they took the corners. Verstappen had to be on the edge, taking full curb’s while Bot was half way the curbs.

    This year will be interesting.
