I took my wheels off to fully clean the wheel and wheel well area - and to apply a ceramic coating to the wheel and the wheel well area. I also wanted to pop the wheel caps off as I have some new titanium caps arriving shortly and the best way to do that (while preserving the cap) is to pop them from behind. Easy.

I had recently used my 3” DA polisher to polish the muffler to a mirror-like finish (quite satisfying and really easy to do). Given that I had the wheel bolts iff and in a pile, I took one and ran the polisher over the head/face of it for about 15-20 seconds. I used Flitz polish on the pad.

I was quite pleased with the outcome for such a simple action. The overall look - albeit very minor, adds to the look of the wheels (although I am probably the only one who will ever notice). :)

Here is a before and after.

What kind of pad did you use on the DA for the muffler. And what polish? I want to do something similar

    Hi Bob

I used the cyan/blue pad and then switched to the crimson red (both pads by lake country. So basically a dense pad to start and then less/dense to finish off. I used the Flitz polish but even tried some Boss Fast correcting cream.

It turned out nicely I think

That muffler doesn’t look stock anymore. :)

Should be a very easy project - with a nice outcome. Be sure to post a pic Bob.

Thanks. Not sure if the bolts are titanium...is there a way to tell? I know they are supposed to be lighter but don’t have any others to compare to.

Do you notice any difference in the wheels after the ceramic coating was applied (keeps brake dust and other particles off, stays cleaner longer, easier to clean)?

Nice job - did you take muffler off to get side and under it ?

It seems like they are a little less dusty and bit easier to clean - although I usually don’t let them get too dirty anyway. :)

No - I just did the top and part of the side pipes. The top is by far the most visible and what you see when you look into the engine bay and look towards the muffler area.

Quite a bit of time has passed now since I first polished it and it looks just as good today. It has held up really well.
