Bought a Rolex Daytona last year for my son as a Law School Graduation gift next year, Have finally realized he isn't into watches, and it is sitting in my desk drawer. Black face, unused, all boxes, tags, manuals, as sold from the dealer. Put it on once to get it sized.
Can get pics when I return to my office, in a day or so, but it is as new. I believe its from 2019.

It is exactly as this one
Rolex Daytona Stainless Black Dial Ceramic Bezel 116500LN | eBay

The dealer in the Ebay ad is actually who I bought the watch from.

Looks like the market price is low to mid $30's, I'll start the price at $32,000.

He might be if you give him that one ;) That's an awesome gift, but if he doesn't want it, I'd just keep it and wear it.

I suspect many in this forum have connections or relationships that let them purchase new at retail pricing, or they have a shorter waiting list than the general public.

many who wanted them might have purchased them a year+ ago.

    Nice watch. GLWS.

I agree with you entirely. Trying to sell over MSRP here might not work.

I totally agree with you......perhaps trying to sell it on the Rolex Forum. You can call David SW he is a grey dealer, I’m sure he would buy it at a lower price to flip. No affiliation. But I have purchased and sold to him on the past. He always was fair.

It'll be hard for an individual to sell at the same pricing as a dealer.

    Same with cars.

Options are to unload quickly at wholesale for what may be a decent profit, or try to private party retail on rolexforums.com, eBay, etc., for a better profit with more hassle.

But considering this was originally purchased grey market rather than from an AD, it suggests OP already has skin in the game a fair margin above MSRP.

It's worth consulting Flat Plane Eddie and Adamas, decent dealers here, to see what they'd pay.

Not to derail your sale, but I love Daytona's and have a couple.

The Daytona here lists for just under $14K new from a dealer. Problem is there is about a 1.5 year wait list for black face - 2.5 year for white face.

However the going market price for black face Daytonas on the 2ndary market is not far off - you are about $3-4K high. Check out Bob's watches for pricing. He's got a bunch for sale ... and you may even want to sell it to him -but he'd be closer to the 20K mark

I may know a person who would be in the market at the $21-22K pricing ... if you have interest let me know and I'll connect you.

Rolex secondary market is funny - if you are not a reputable dealer .. it's hard to command the premium prices. there are so many very good fakes that you can only see when you take the watch apart... so it's hard to make the higher numbers.

The black face one has grown on me... I'm not a fan of the white with black bezel.

I agree with your take on the black vs. white face.... When I bought mine, I could have chosen either one, I liked the way the black face looked with the black bezel, so I chose that.

They certainly do take quite a while to get from a dealer. My white face took 3 years to arrive after my first Rolex (submariner) purchase from a dealer where I had established dealings in other watches for a decade prior. The ability to get a Daytona "today" is not trivial, and more than accounts for any premium. Best of luck to the OP.

I'm the one who purchased the Daytona. HOF Ferrari was great to deal with and everything went super smooth. He shipped quickly after payment and the watch is just as described. Thanks again!
