great info, thanks nice, cross weighted and everything, all in for 2818lbs ...i suppose with the steel monoque that you're not going to be able and get quite as light as the tube frame cars (3x8)? agreed, i wouldn't just plop a plate on the floor sheet metal, it'd simply tear out around the plate in an impact ...that mustang is a good graphic example my welding guy has/does a lot for the local RS & SS class track guys, and would use him for any cage work ....here either a scca cert tag or an inspection hole must be in place to pass inspection
Edit: found a few posts showing mounting plates http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=140401053&postcount=4 http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=136308126&postcount=5 http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=136311263&postcount=17 checking into things further, it appears easily to meet SCCA that even 1.5" DOM .120" could be used, and meet the pro-race class spec as well if i'm not mistaken standard DOM is 1020 mild, and besides any ERW tubing is $ more (here anyways)
i have a 1998 red 355 with cream leather challenge rear panel and a factory fitted cream leather covered roll cage. I have not seen another one anywhere? Does anyone have any info about them, I have been unable to contact the original owner.
Do you know any of its geographic history? Was it first delivered overseas? Perhaps Dubai? Get a Carfax report. The 2 Dubai cars I know of both start their Carfax reports in March, 2000, in a Denver suburb that I don't recall now.
Stumbled across a gorgeous UK car with the so-called “Dubai-spec” roll bar. https://www.silverstoneauctions.com/events/2015-auctions/nec-classic-motor-show-sale-2015/nec-classic-motor-show-sale-2015-sale/nec-classic-motor-show-sale-2015-sale-session/1999-ferrari-f355-f1 Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Eurospares got back to me today. They checked with Italy. No part number. It was a "specially commissioned part" at the time the cars were being built. So add $20k to the value if you see one with it .
^ Easy enough to make one I wouldn't want to add the weight unless I was going to have the car on track all the time. I mean, if you do enough weight reduction the roof won't collapse when you roll over anyway
A photo of the car the day I bought it in Oct. 2007 Image Unavailable, Please Login and a replica of the build sheet of my car - PDF file.
Love it That cage looks custom or another version as the OMP Challenge would sit about 1-2 inch higher and the metal tube alone will scrap the interior panel. Looks like you have a cover and possibly padding also. Great looking car
All factory built, per PDF build sheet. See the attached PDF for pictures of 1 of 5 sister cars special ordered by the same Dubai dealership, also with a roll bar. Yes, the roll bar has leather covering over a bit of padding. But not like thick padding used in some cars to protect drivers' heads, etc.
Dang, sold my car too cheap with the rare bar! Dubai spec car: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I just bought an ex UK RHD 1998 F1 Berlinetta with factory upholstered Roll Bar. Obviously not one of the Dubai cars. FHP and factory carbon seats. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
