I`m calling for some help from anyone in LA with getting the DMV history of my car. The car was LA registred from 1980 to 1999. I bought the car from the first owner in LA over 20 years ago. I have since understood that all data from DMV is available but only to registred California citizens. I do have the original LA Blue registration plates and the name of the first owner. I also have a copy of the title. Could someone here be so kind to help me gather the info from DMV for the firt 20 years? Please PM if you can help. I believe it had only one owner in the US before us. It was originally sold by Jacques Swaters in Belgium before being sent to the US. We have had it registred both in Europe, where it is now, and in CT on the East coast I just want to gather a complete hisory car as it has probably only had two registerd owners and only covered 34.000kms from new (which I want to confirm is that is true). It is believed to be one of the early Straman cars. Kind regards and thank you //Rob
Maybe you should post the VIN of the car? This will not help with the DMV, but with a bit of luck original dealer and owner are known? Then there is the old fashioned way: a phone call to all the previous owners one by one. This is the sort of gift my brother did for me: calling all these owners their accountants, and the two dealers (Pozzi and Aurelia) in order to collect the mainteance record of the car! He said it was great fun. Good luck.
Hi raemin and fatbillybob, Last I checked you need a login to get to such data for old cars. Such login is only provided to US residents. So I don't think I can get it from their web site. I tried to go to the site today and see if any terms were changed and I cannot access the site at all now. Maybe they have blocked it for Europen access to to GDPR? The car has most likely only had one registered owner in the US which sadly has passed away many years ago. It was owned by the De La Bruyere family in LA. I have some records from Ferrari in Atlanta, why on earth yo service a LA car in Atlanta is unknown, but they did. How do I get a list of companies, still around, that could have been servicing Ferraris in the Beverly Hills area during the 80's and 90's? All input welcome //Rob
I can access the page https://www.dmv.ca.gov/ from France. Perhaps there is a blockage from other countries in Europe, in this case tunnelling to the US (from Europe) could be an option.
I tried to set up an account online and I could as the DMV crack ID verification system could not verify me although I think I know what my address etc is. My car was also in the LA area from 1980 to at least 1990 as there were two "for sale" ads placed in the LA Times. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you, Pascal
I have a California DMV online account, and California will not release any information whatsoever on current or previous registration of a car, except its emission testing history, and cars older than model year 1975 will not have emission testing information. Tom, in Southern California.
Did find a picture with the CA license plate at least...no trace anywhere in the car of smog equipment, inspection stickers etc. Image Unavailable, Please Login
