Sf90 starts at $600K. The lightweight version, with other options, raises the price to $750 - $800. A nicely optioned 765 is $400K- $425K.
765LT is the winner in my book, nearly as fast costs $200,000 less, lighter and what happens with the SF90 runs out of battery? Plus I just don’t like the looks of the SF90. For me and I am a Ferrari guy the 765LT is the winner.
SF90 vs 765LT in a half mile and the Ferrari loses. Actually any pull above 150km/h and ciao Ferrari.
Clear up the speculation on the SF90 price: USD Stradale MSRP $507,300 Spider MSRP $557,306 Asseto Fiorano Package is $69K on a Stradale and $56K on a Spider. A lightly spec’d Stradale could come in under $600K. An Asseto Fiorano Pack, Stripe, Carbon Wheels, triple layer paint, exterior carbon, interior carbon, racing seats, etc. - you can put $300,000+ of options on the car. It’s actually quite absurd. Biggest knock on the AF Pack is you lose the ability to have the front lift and Bumpy Road mode with the titanium springs. Brooks probably has the lowest spec’d 765LT in the US. He only added a stitch color and the Napier Green. Whereas a fully spec’d carbon, roof scoop car, every option 756LT can get as high as $540,000. I believe as stated above, most 765LT’s are coming in $425-$460K.
My simple take on the video... The SF90 performs as a 1000 horsepower $600K+ car ought to. No really shocking surprise with those numbers. Is it a bargain at that price, meh, not really. Improving tech from the last trio of LaF, 918, P1 I suppose. The 765LT is the car that really outperforms its segment and punches way above it’s weight class, especially at the price point.
On the roll...as in on a track exiting a corner the 765 hung then started to catch and pass...on a long long straight it seems like the SF90 runs out of steam. I’d love to see same day track times of these 2 cars. For $375-$400 765 is impressive
Respect to the 765...which is why I’m getting one. But respect to the Sf90 for ferrari showing they aren’t lazy. Lol. Good job by both cars and good for us end users.
Is there sufficient regeneration at track speeds that the electric motors can always be fully deployed, lap after lap?
We shall see it’s not even available yet and Tesla likes to overpromise and underdeliver. Also it will probably only be able to do 1 or 2 runs and then it will pull power back to save the battery. That’s what happens with the current Model S. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I think by enlarge Tesla owners aren’t car guys. Maybe some are in that they’re attracted to the one trick pony acceleration, or purported speed anyhow, but that’s really all Tesla has. Outside of that their quality blows, finishes blow, aesthetics blow, and driving one is similar to using a Maytag. It’s just an appliance with one cool/gimmicky feature. Outside of that they’re completely uninspired and devoid of any emotional connection. When you read all of the pages on this forum and others it’s clear drivers and actual car enthusiasts are looking for more than a single dimension car. They seek the connection and joy a Tesla just doesn’t provide. The sycophant touting of those cars is just bizarre to me. Nobody is trading out of a 765tl, SF90, or even a Miata to get the one thing a Tesla arguably does well. It isn’t happening. Enthusiasts aren’t lusting after a Tesla gingham or whatever they call their tweaked car this week... they’re not hanging model S posters on their walls dreaming of success needed to attain one someday. That space is, and always will be, reserved for actual connected cars like Ferrari, McLaren, Lamborghini, Pagani, Koneigsegg, etc. <end rant>
Ive owned 2 Teslas. My wife loves them. Cant stand them. My bro in law- not a car guy at all-loves Tesla. Its all you need to know. Tesla is an appliance. Not a car.
Coming out of a corner at say 65mph, full throttle down a straight up to 140-170mph or so and it looks like the McLaren 765 will walk away from the SF90. I also would like to know if the 765 or SF90 has more corner grip. I would say the 765 will be faster in corners mostly due to the big weight difference but I hear it’s aero is top notch. I hope this is not any indication of how the 2021 F1 season will go.
I don’t disagree in theory, however, outside of a Fiorano and Top Gear lap time, we don’t really know but so much what the SF90 is capable of on a race track. I will say, it has a whole lotta new trick aero underneath it that is pretty crazy and in addition, the new torque vectoring tech that is mostly above my head sounds like the ability of the front wheels independent batteries can help rotate the car around corners faster with how it applies the power.
For reference, this week we ran Ferrari 488 Challenge cars at PBIR, best I hit on the back straight was 158-159mph in the Challenge car. The 765 with 2 people easily hit 168. We could have easily crossed 170mph. In the Challenge car I'm getting out of the last turn super hot and still couldn't touch the 765 at 80%.
Amazing! Sebring’s is my home track.... what does a 488 Challenge hit going into T17? Any idea what apex speed is in T1?
