I recently purchased a '67 330 GTC and am just getting acquainted with it.
My car has two leather straps behind the seats mounting from the rear deck and going down towards the floor. One behind each seat.
It looks like they are designed to secure small golf bag or perhaps some type of fitted luggage. Does anyone know what it was that these were intended to secure behind the seats?

Incidentally, I am absolutely loving the car.

Yes, for luggage. As far as I know, the factory never made special luggage for this model.

Welcome to the GTC! We've been loving ours for 11 years!

I'm in the process of measuring up this space to order some fitted cases for our car, probably from the UK. If you're interested, PM me for more discussion. I have fitted (soft) luggage coming next week for our R8; we'll see how we like the quality. I will be ordering hard cases for the GTC.

I may be interested in the fitted luggage for the 330. If you decide to order let me know what the pieces will be. Back in the 70s my 1st GTC was my daily driver. I packed it full frequently. Would be nice to have luggage made to order.

Might be interested also! What kind of leather or fabric are you thinking of?

Interesting that the three 330 GTC owners posting also have a very modern Ferrari.

    Cheers,

Hey, don't forget about me! :)

Yes, even my old banger has the leather straps. I'd love to see more shots of your car though. It looks very clean in the initial pic.

The rear area can fit about three kids laying on top of each other, longitudinally. The belts just keep 'em in place.

Funny you should mention kids on the shelf. 30 yrs ago my son used to lay sideways and sleep on the long trips in the GTC. Now he tracks a Challenge car and drives a 550. Apple does not fall far from the tree I guess.

Good one! I have two small daughters, before my romps they sit in the back and I drive them around the yard while they play with the ashtray spring release. My wife won't let me take them further than the front gate (she's probably right).

These straps are also useful for securing several cases of champagne or old barolos...

Also, getting back to the subject of those leather straps; anyone; please PM me if you're interested in fitted cases for your GTC.
I will email some thoughts and pix.

Does anyone know what the outcome of this tread was. Was Tritone ever able to have luggage made or does anyone know where or who to have some made?

I recently initiated discussions with the Alan Tylor Company in California (they advertise in Sports Car Market) about making some custom luggage for my 365 GTC. I need to send measurements of the luggage shelf behind the seats so they can get a better idea of what will be needed, but a very rough estimate is the cost will be around $3,000 per suitcase.

Whatever I do would be applicable to 330 GTCs as well as 365 GTCs. I would be happy to keep anyone who asks in the loop as this project evolves. Just send me an email address by PM.

Tritone abandoned the project after the initial rough cost estimates passed $6K for 3 pieces, required 5 sets.......queried a couple of people on the list and they passed.....
