There was a guy, for years, who made a pretty decent living buying and selling these. He'd buy them up, do a complete overhaul, which generally included adding air conditioning if the customer wanted it, and then off they'd go.

I emailed back and forth with him a couple times on cars he had, let me see if I can find that and then we'll see if he's still in the business.

My pops had a dark blue w/tan GTV 2000 in his early 20’s (during the 70’s). He said it was quite an attention getter at the time. I never saw the car or pics of it, but he would talk about how beautiful it was all the time.

I asked him again what we should get. He said red or bust lol.

I’m looking for red (red red, not kinda red :)), but I’m open to white (a nice shade), mango, brighter blues if the car is really nice.

    Can’t do pearl or metallic yellows. And it’s a 1750 :)

Red car doesn’t seem too bad for a restoration project. If I was 10 years younger I might have considered taking it on. At this stage, I just want to buy it, drive it, detail it, and showcase it in the garage. Looking for a beautiful car from the get-go that needs next to nothing. 355 already giving me headaches :).

Understood.. I follow the market pretty closely and will send you any i come across.

I bought my first Alfa at 15 and drove one all through high school and college. I learned to rebuild an engine by the time i was 17.. I hate to be the one to tell you this but there is no such thing as an Alfa that needs nothing . They are wonderful and soul stirring vehicles but trouble free is not an attribute ever given to a vintage alfa.

Hmm. Bring a magnet. I don't like the look of those rocker panels. My guess is they are all filler. They should have crisp lines in them. Here is a pic of mine.

something just seems off about this car.. You should certainly go see it but id be cautious. If it was a bare metal respray id want to see the photos and the receipts for the body work. Those rockers dont look right and either does the passenger door alignment.

Gotcha. I’m actually pretty adept in spotting bodywork issues. I actually have my own full size car spray booth, but mainly used for stuff I manufacture.

Most of these cars are major rust buckets so I would always want to see what they were working with before the restoration.

Anything funny you see on the mechanical side?

Another good reason to buy on BAT as you have multiple eyes checking. Especially for cars you dont know too much about.

Thats good. The rust is the key. They are pretty straightforward mechanically but ill take a closer look when I get to my laptop. Don't see anything on my phone.

the bondo is dripping off this thing.. mechanically nothing jumps out but im not sure i could get past this quality of body work unless it was half his asking price.

I think my eyes are going to bleed if I see giallo ocra being called mango yellow ever again LOL.

Giallo ocra is an emblematic 105 color. It is THE 1750 first series color.
