Tell us more about the Boss 302 !
Looking back as the year comes to an end and my curiosity,I couldn’t help but notice this BAT auction which resulted in the below pictured 05GT hammer at 343 thousand plus fees. Prices that were previously regalated to wrapper cars.
Yes...that one stunned me. That color combination seems to trail the others, which makes that hammer price all the more impressive. My one owner 3,700 mile White / Blue stripe that I acquired in March for $265,000 seems like a relative bargain. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2005-ford-gt-29/?utm_source=dm&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=2020-12-24
Don't agree this color combo trails the others. Other than the Heritage I think the Blue with white stripe is the most desirable. They have always brought good numbers. Having said that this one went for exceptional money. Bat auctions are interesting to watch. All that's needed is 2 guys at the end that feel they really want the car and before you know it the bids get a little crazy. Oh by the way I am a little bias in that I have an 05 Blue / White stripe 4 option car since new. 7 K miles.
It WAS a bargain considering it had my personal stamp of approval. Blue DOES carry a premium (although personally I think the shade is too dark), but the premium has been more like $10k. Looks like 2 guys just engaged in an anatomy measuring contest, because they WAY overpaid, unless this is the first salvo in a new paradigm shift (last week Hagerty's put it on the Bull Market List for 2021). There is that one guy I feel sorry for, he participates in all these auctions but runs out of spirit (or wallet) too soon....really sounds like he wants one and I wonder if he was bidding on the beat up 2 accident one that sold for $218k. He reminds me of where I was a year ago, several steps late and tens of thousands of dollars short.
Drove 22.5 miles each way just to pick-up some Chinese food today......just saving the FGT miles for the next owner....LOL
A red GT with 11,000 miles went for $280k on BAT recently. Made me feel better about our Blue / white GT sale at $275k.
The one thing I learned from this is don't have an auction that ends on New Years Eve....that car should have fetched $300k or a little more. I had no idea this was even going on. And I guess I don't have to feel bad for that one guy that keeps missing out anymore....he made comments but no bid, after complaining at every auction how high the pricing was and he kept coming in 2nd or 3rd.
This 06 Heritage wrapper car with factory miles should be interesting to watch at auction: Image Unavailable, Please Login
All the gauges seem to be working which is the Achilles heel of the GT when they sit for a long time.
A heritage is a polarizing car for me. The only thing I really like about it is how the orange top stripe is done.....otherwise I don't think I could own a pastel blue colored car. But no denying the excitement and price premium surrounding them.
Just for information, Rich Brooks is selling an extremely rare set of carbon fiber parts for 05-06. It’s pricey but worth every penny.
Heritage with 26 miles doesn't meet the reserve at $520k on bring a trailer. To me, it should have sold at that. With that low a miles, it will cost $10-20k for the GT Guy to change out all fluids and other issues that come along with not driving a car for 16 years.
Unless the owner was a serious collector and had it serviced often; there was little information relating to regular maintenance. There was a carfax report of two services.....no dates given.
Even at 520k the non driving owner would have done better dumping 173k (MSRP in 2006) in the stock market in 2006. Pick any any index fund. Not driven...why not just buy a 1:18 diecast? My 2005 is at Rich’s getting a full refurb after 57k hard but fun miles.
FoCF has a 330 mile red 2005 for sale asking $399,895 for future refence on prices: https://www.ferraricf.com/used-vehicle-2005-ford-gt-base-c-485/
There’s “mint”, and then there’s “in the wrapper...” https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2005-ford-gt-32/?utm_source=dm&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=2021-05-03
I would never buy one with that many miles....it's probably totally ragged out Interesting to see Shelby selling a car on BAT
