Every time I've been there it's like visiting a museum. Always great stuff!

You'd think that for such a big car place like LA there would be more dedicated vintage British repair shops but surprisingly there aren't. Fast Cars does have experience with British cars though. Craig himself has a pre-war Bentley if I remember correctly. Also, when I saw them in Italy for the Mille Miglia I believe they were running at least one Jaguar.

    Hi,

A series 1 or 2 SWB with carbs is a very different beast than a LWB Series 2 or 3 with EFI.

They’re all gorgeous and the later ones are perhaps easier to manage unless you are more DIY and love carbs like myself. :D

The Series 1 XJ12 front is only topped by the Series 1 Daimler Double Six ( &. DD6 VDP). Drop dead gorgeous! :)

    Cheers!

Tbh, Harry's garage has got me with a hankering for xj12 (series 1 swb or coupe) with a manual for a beater car. I just need go find somewhere to maintain it (and do the swap tbh) before I make the jump. I could also go for a 75 xjs tbh, but while those technicaly exist, idk I have litteraly ever seen one. Guess if I ever find a coupe of swb xj12 pop up (that hasn't had a 305 thrown in it) ill give fast cars a call to see if they would be open to maintaining it

You realy would. I also can't manage to find a classic lotus or lancia specialist anywhere in socal. Had to sell off my lancia before I moved back cause no one would work on it and now I can't justify an elan cause, once again, I cant find a specialist.

We also work on Lotus and Lancia's . In fact we restored the Famous Lancia Zero a couple of years ago and run a number of Lancia Stratos through our race / rally program.

    Hi,

Ok, I have had an early EU spec 1975 XJ6C from 2007, factory original with 2x 2” SU HS8’s, high compression and manual 4-sp + O/D.

And a manual 1972 V12 E-type OTS. (European spec as well.)

All factory XJ12’s and thus also all the XJ12C’s were automatic, except the four Broadspeed race cars. A few hundred XJ-S V12’s were made with the 4-sp manual, Georg Dönni in Switzerland has one for sale. All XJ-S were EFI, 1972-1974 XJ12 (& DD6) were carbureted.

Of course you can make an auto -> manual conversion, like the one Harry has, but it may take a bit of tinkering. ;-) It will be a customised car then.

    Cheers!

Oh yah. I do love me some stock fun cars, but I have 0 desire for a stock xj12. Ultimately just seems like a fun car to beat on given how much the later xjs engines liked to be beat on. Unfortunately looks like its a bit of a ways off seeing as there isn't a single pre 76 xj12 in the US with the v12 still it in....

Could obviously get a swapped can and swap it back, but not realy looking to dive that deep into a project I probabapy wouldn't keep more than a year or two anyways
