Hi - is there a secret underground club of Ferrari owners in Houston? I am currently debating between a 360 Modena manual, a F430 and a 599 F1 and would love to come to a Houston meet to ask dumb questions about these cars and hear sage advice from owners. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Let’s do it! How about an impromptu meet this Saturday morning 2/13 at Roast and Brew on 19th? Plenty of ding free space across the street I am open to other locations! Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
we went on a drive yesterday ! too bad you didnt post this a week ago. there are many of us here in houston. the president of the local chapter here is Clint Russell and he is a member on here too.
The FCA is responsible for promoting the brand, but oddly the events are emailed to members, not posted publicly. The proposed gathering on 19th is only blocks away from my home, sadly I will be at an event in Baton Rouge, not Fcar related. Darn....have fun!
Well it sounds like a very "closed club"... ! I would love to meet and chat with some owners. I even tried to sign up for an FCA membership but the website is a bit wonky and fails to register new members...
Well, mail in $175 or the current fee, to National, and you will get the emails and a nice name Tag!! And Prancing Horse magazine quarterly.. I found the best way was "top down entry" although the current Chapter President is the "right kind of guy" and a lot of the members are great fun. I always wondered myself how it was to "grow" without any outreach to newbies.
The wonderful exception is Mr. Franco Valobra, but he is actually the President of Louisiana, via New Orleans He's a very open gentleman and his annual Festival (cancelled this year from the crisis) is a "do not miss" fundraiser.
See if you can find Clint Russell on Facebook.. I may not launch eastward on my adventure I will come down Saturday
I have met Franco in the past, I can’t remember which occasion. Lovely person. I did notice a different approach between the Porsche Owners and farari owners, the lighters seem not wanting to mingle at multi brand events or cars and coffee Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Is it ON this morning???? Brrrrrr.... I have the coffee on, at 2424 East TC Jester, I will come down to Roast and Brew if anyone is alive after the Great Texas Freeze. You there???Cars and Coffee has had many versions in Houston and always ends in tears from some driving demonstration on the perimeter streets. Like the gunfire at the couple in West Houston the other day, during a Street Takeover....whoever that group is....Imports, IIRC. Not that Ferraris are not! Anyway I'm up, I can make 9AM at your location.... Will wear my red coat.....the Lambo one is black/white..LOL!
Well, that's a chill little place....did not try the coffee as my Official Shell Thermos mug, already had an Irish in it!! Went by Wolfsmith, one a benevolent mission, and the wind blew the fence gate and gouged the paint off my driver's fender!! :/ :/ :/ I got a free coffee refill.. Then southbound on Shepherd to the bike shop TWO cars pulled out in front of me at once! A Lexus from the left, and a truck from the right, both barging the lanes, daring me to hit them..... This town just sucks, for a Ferrari. Don't get one, don't drive one.....don't enjoy one on a Saturday morning.. Just forget the whole thing........maybe a Hummer!!
I totally agree with BigTex. This town sucks for trying to enjoy your car. That's all you do is go from one red light to another and try your best do dodge all the crazy drivers out there. It is nerve racking!!!
Sorry I missed the messages ! I am going tomorrow AM to Catalinas coffee on Washington, will be there with my GT3 at around 8:30am. Fully agree with Houston sucking for car ownership. All of a sudden those G wagen from Mercedes make sense. I am tempted to get a membership at MSRH just to enjoy a few turns. Went to play tennis with the GT3 and between mad traffic, sinkholes and speed bumps it was hell. Did see a beautiful silver California this AM on TC jester Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
The only thing that bothers me is the straight and crowded roads....still, without the strong Houston O&G market for most of the past 25 years combined with reasonable housing prices is the only way a middle class schlub like me can own 2 exotics. So straight crowded roads it is.
Would you guys be open to me making us a telegram chatroom for just Houston Exotic owners / Ferrari owners? It's a little more instantaneous
I hope the houstonians are navigating this cold breeze as best as possible Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
