Prost was brilliantly tactful. Stroll has a thick head of hair. Sorry, but I've run out of other valid comparisons.
Stroll is going to be in F1 for quite awhile as long as Dad is footing the bill and an F1 team (this I have no issue with)-->it's great Dad & consortium saved the team financially and has invested in it. Whether Lance can beat Vettel remains to be seen. Vettel SEEMS on the down sloping side while Lance SHOULD be on the up sloping side. I'm sure all will watch how these 2 qualify and race against each other. Next up is Latifi. He's no rookie anymore followed by Mazepin. Let's see if these 2 are hungry enough to beat their team-mates since both also come from billionare fathers. @Nuvolari --> I tried to find your thread on Latifi, the one you started to "bump" it up since its Latifii's 2nd year in F1 but to no avail.
I know this video, Of course Prost wanted to humiliate Boutsen because Bousten was a close friend to Senna. Especially Prost had not forgotten that Boutsen openly supported Senna when the latter criticized him.
It took a hell of a lot of mental strength to resist the pressure Prost put inside a team. Mansell was literally eaten alive by him at Ferrari in 1990.
My Prost comment was very much tongue-in-cheek but it did unearth that great video clip of him testing for Ligier. Awesome stuff.
I always had a soft spot for Ligier: Their livery and team was about the closest to my child hood hero Michel Vaillant there ever was.
Regarding their team-mates since their inception in F1. Note: Stroll is STILL on a learning curve. (positive note). Image Unavailable, Please Login
Latest about Stroll- https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/154706/stroll-2020-partly-a-year-of-missed-opportunity Lance Stroll admits his 2020 Formula 1 season "was a year of missed opportunity" given the competitiveness of his Racing Point package. The Canadian took his maiden pole position for Racing Point - which has been rebranded as Aston Martin for 2021 - at the Turkish Grand Prix last season, and enjoyed two podium finishes as he made a step forward in form from his team. But while chuffed with the good days, he still thinks more could have been more possible were it not for bad luck and catching COVID-19. "We had some good results: a few fourth places, a couple of podiums, a pole - that was one of the bigger highlights of the season. So it was a good year," said Stroll, speaking to Autosport. "I think at the same time, though, it was a year of missed opportunity with the car we had. "We had very competitive car - but there were other factors." Stroll points to the fact that the first half of the season was so strong for him, as he temporarily moved himself up to the best-of-the-rest slot in the drivers' standings behind Lewis Hamilton, Valtteri Bottas and Max Verstappen. But then following a podium finish at the Italian Grand Prix, his campaign went off the rails for a while as retirements, incidents and an absence through illness meant he did not score for five races. Image Unavailable, Please Login PLUS: The driver gap Aston Martin must address in 2021 "In the first half of the season I was sitting fourth in the world championship with a good gap to the rest of the pack," he explained. "Then after my puncture in Mugello it was a bumpy ride in terms of points. "A part of me is a little bit frustrated that in so many races, we kind of just had a bumpy ride, and it ran a little bit downhill since my previous podium in Monza. "There was a lot of opportunity in some of those races. In Mugello, we were up for the podium there and we had the puncture. "And then I got COVID, missed a race there [Nurburgring]. There's been a few unfortunate other races where we just DNF'd, and didn't score any points. "So I do see some missed opportunity in the season in total. But, all in all, it was a very fun year as well. "It was a good year and it was a fun year - just competing in a car that has been up at the front for most of the season. That's been awesome."
2020: yeah, 7 DNF's for Stroll wasn't a good year. 2021: Let's see how Stroll does against a "downward spiraling" Vettel. This is of course Seb's performance with Ferrari.
Just watched a YouTube video on a different Canadian driver. One who found himself in the best car of the field at one point. I have to say I find Stroll a lot more likeable and making more of an impression in second-tier equipment than that other Canadian did after his second season.
"We" means "I". As a team, i.e. the real "we", RP did much better than a few fourth places, a couple podiums, a pole.
