Rather than founding father Thomas Jefferson, it was first American president George Washington's axe; the one he famously used to cut down the cherry tree with, the one when confronted with his (mis)deed, it is said he claimed, 'I cannot tell a lie', and then admitted to the tree cutting...
it is that ax for which it is said, 'the head has been replaced twice and the handle three times- but everyone knows it's George Washington's(!)'.

    Carry on, mate. ;)

Why on earth has the Houston car got such horrid and tasteless seats? They can’t be “Classiche approved” surely?

Photo is very old and does not show the real situation of the certified car.

Sorry, I might have caused confusion: I meant the “horrid” (in my opinion) blue seats in the car currently for sale. I much prefer the black as fitted in the DK Engineering pics.

The majority of the 250 LM's (24 out of 32 units built) originally had this blue cloth.

The seats on various 250 LMs have a differing number of horizontal flutes. Did they vary as originally built?

    Yes, they did.
And some were not horizontal but vertical.

Thank you. Apart from Stradale #6025, were any in leather or a different colour fabric?

James Cottingham from DK Engineering in discussion with Sam Moores regarding the 2 F40s with the same chassis number 90969 fully clarifies the story of 250 LM #6045. View from the relevant point in the video in link here.

Thanks for posting. It’s fascinating what is regarded as “a real car”. I always thought it is interesting that the chassis is regarded as the most important part of a cars integrity, not the engine. Aside from the collector car universe, I would guess that most would regard the engine as the most critical component. Well, regardless, seemingly the chassis and the engine are together and the car is beautifully restored.

Still listed on their website for sale. I still think it's such a bizarre sight to see a 250LM listed for sale on a dealer website alongside GTC4 Lusso and Lancia Fulvia.
