Quick question Robbie, my dad use to rave about RRs all the time, was a BIG Jag fan and although he had more than enough money for one never bought one, anyway, he said to me one day that Rolls Royce use to put the engine blocks into the ground for years to normalise the block .... true or myth ?

 

What did they use to be ?

I'm only a relatively new QLDer (40 years living here on and off) so know eye deer what else they could be used for

 

Radiator cap ,idea.

The car has never boiled so I don't expect to in the future .

It seems you're having a problem with a whole bunch of folk trying various methods of looking at your issue (which you put out here) and all you can do is to heap poo on them.
Why would we bother.
....and it doesn't matter what sort of Pommy HOS you go on about,they were all tarred with the same brush..crap cooling and that fine electrical Lucas product....

Shows how much you know about RR/Bs very few Lucas parts , lights which are fantastic as are the fog lights , other sundaries inhouse including ignition coil.

 

Radiator cap , only one type available as are the pressure , its a different cap to other cars ,heavy threaded one .

Blades are 7.

I'll look into the adjustment of the fan clutch.

I enjoy this old car so much Ian ,its worth little ,just trying to care for it ,once got hot in Bell st peak hour traffic , I parked down a side street for an hour and let the traffic go by.

Never boiled ,most people would not be concerned , since I fitted a new thermostat its been a lot better , in heavy traffic 3/4 up the gauge then the thermostat kicks in back to 1/2 on the gauge

Oh and never smells hot .
