Fiat Kills the 500L and 124 Spider and I Alone Will Miss Them Both (motortrend.com)
The new 124 spider was destined to failure on day one. In fact the Fiat brand in America is close to pushing up daisies. FCA is making money hand over fist with Dodge trucks and Jeep SUV's. They don't give a crap about "Fiat".
They could have done something interesting with the bodywork or tuned the suspension/handling but NO. They made a car that is more expensive, less powerful, and interior handling to the Miata. They charged more but didn't uplevel the offering in any way. So how was it ever going to succeed?
I just spent a week in AZ and borrowed a 124 to get around. Was a fun little car. It's a shame they are going away.
Oh, Goody! My Fiat-Signal worked. What series or year was the Original 124/2000/Pininfarina Spider *you* liked best? Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
They didn't forget, but they didn't try very hard either. Remember they had a major ad campaign for the 124 featuring Charlie Sheen ready to roll but they pulled the plug when he announced he had HIV. I guess they wanted the bad boy image but that was a step too far. To my knowledge they never replaced those ads with anything, they seemed to just give up.
Yep. Also appreciate Dale confirming 1985, as I look at lots and lots and lots of Mfg./Models, when I punched 1985 in, you guessed it, 1985 Fiat Spider was 1st result based on actual Search History. FWIW, I quoted his Mayorness, as he'd seen and run the gamut. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
