    Hi,

I've found two pictures in a french forum.
I knew only two 412 convertible until today.
One is the scaglietty prototype, and an other converted by scaglietti and owned by a italian enterprise which rent car for weddings and others events. Twice Red.
But the new I've discovered is really different, and black....

    Paul,

This looks like an aftermarket conversion.

    Regards,

for sure, but if there are many conversions on 400, there are very rare on 412..

They sure did not put a very attractive top on it. The top is to long at the rear. It makes the car look boxy and hidious. The side of the top behind the rear quarter windows is way to large. Our 400i Cabriolet is far better porportioned as are most of the other converstions I've seen.

I don't want to hurt anyones feelings but I must say when a modifacation is done it should look as good as the original or better. This treatment does a disservice to the original design.

I’m sorry and don’t mean to offend anyone but the color combo along with the chopped top makes it, in my opinion, a very unattractive car.

There is a gizmo on top of the steering wheel chassis number. Any idea what this is? This is a bit of an annoying detail, as the identification of a Ferrari is really what makes every single car unique. Plus the engraving is usually beautiful.

The soft top looks huge once folded: on the Lorentz Cab, it is far less protruding. Also agree that the triangular rear window does not look good to me. Green tire valves?

All in all, there are numerous details that are slightly odd on this car. It's unfortunate as the 412 was probably the most appropriate model for a cab conversion (flat trunk accommodates better the folded top). On the plus side, this car seems to be well sorted out, tires are not dry rot, all the tools and documentation are included.

It deserves a new soft top with proper side windows. This might not be so much expensive compared to the maintenance cost of a neglected car (which this car isn't).

In the US it's common to use green caps to denote that the tires were filled with nitrogen instead of regular air.

And the gizmo is a police radar detector.
