Hi all, I have a 2005 Scaglietti that’s in Hong Kong that I’d like to send to Australia. Problem is it’s been on the SEVS list for a while but I can’t find a RAWS workshop that can compliance it. Is it possible? Any help much appreciated thanks! Cheers, DT Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
I recall only the very early 612's are on the SEVS list, and the reason for no RAWS workshop is probably a significant lack of demand for 612 compliance. I suggest you have a chat with Ross Pendergast at Road and Track in Sydney regarding what's feasible, he's arranged the importation of a number of Ferraris from HK in the last 18 months. https://roadandtrack.com.au/ M
There are options, but there is a bit involved. here is your starting point... https://www.infrastructure.gov.au/vehicles/imports/
According to the rvcs site the 612 is not eligible for SEVS as Ferrari applied for full compliance plates. Image Unavailable, Please Login If you read the final paragraph of the SEVS availability page it also amended the rule. Image Unavailable, Please Login
But if the owner has owned and driven the car in HK for more than a year, can’t he bring it in as a personal import regardless of SEVS etc.?
As long as you show you are returning permanently. https://www.infrastructure.gov.au/vehicles/imports/import_options/pis.aspx Applicants must have lived in a foreign country (or several foreign countries) throughout a qualifying period of 12 months prior to arriving in Australia. Applicants must now intend to become an Australian permanent resident and remain in Australia indefinitely. Temporary visitors such as foreign tourists, posted diplomatic personnel and posted military personnel are not eligible under this option.
Ah thanks guys - Seems like it might not be possible for me then unfortunately as the Personal Import option only applies for one car every 5 years and I already imported my RS6 a few months back. :-( What a pain! Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Yeah. May have made sense at one time, but that was a long time ago. Now it's just stupid and unnecessary regulation that they're too lazy to undo.
It looks to me that the 612 is on the list for cars produced up to 5/2008 http://rvcs-prodweb.dot.gov.au/sevs/sevsindex.htm See entry 317-02 http://rvcs-prodweb.dot.gov.au/sevs/317-02.htm As I said, worth having a chat with Ross at Road and Track in Sydney.
As per my other post if you scroll down to the end, the -02 update mentions the model is no longer eligible. Image Unavailable, Please Login If the full compliance plates were surrendered it should be added as -03 like other entries on that list. But yeah no harm calling Ross maybe the website doesn't update older listings as often since it mentions last update for 317-02 as 2008.
